The Whitehall Vikings have been on a remarkable roll to start the 2020 campaign. This continued on Friday night, as they shut out Mason County Central to remain unbeaten on the year, a 36-0 victory.

There were only two points scored in the first quarter, and the Whitehall defense was responsible for that action. Ira Jenkins was credited with the safety in the end zone, giving the Vikings a 2-0 edge. This play earned Jenkins the Redi Rental Viking of the Game Honors.

In the second quarter, Andrew Durbin got things rolling with a six yard touchdown run. On their next drive, Caleb Koch made his way into the end zone for Whitehall. Durbin would add another six yard touchdown run, and after Taden Brandel converted all three extra points, it was 23-0 Whitehall as the teams went to the locker room.

The second half saw just two touchdowns scored, but again they were both for Whitehall. Jaiden Altgilbers scored in the third quarter on a ten yard run, and Alec Pruett added a three-yard touchdown on the ground in the fourth.

Kris Dowdell, who did not find the end zone, led the Vikings with 93 rushing yards. Durbin passed for 71 and added 53 on the ground. In total, Whitehall outgained Mason County Central 437-85, a total display on dominance on both sides of the football.

Next week, Whitehall has a ginormous showdown in the WMC against fellow unbeaten Montague. The winner of that one will take control of the league title race. As for Mason County Central, they will tangle with North Muskegon.
