The Central Montcalm Hornets hosted Tri-County on Friday in a crucial CSAA-Gold contest. Both teams sat at 2-1 in league play, and they looked to keep pace in the league standings. The defenses in this one put up phenomenal performances, and ultimately one touchdown by the Hornets was enough in this 7-0 contest.

In the first half, Tri-County drove deep into Central Montcalm territory with only a few seconds to play. Fisher Hill came up with a huge interception for the Hornets, preserving the scoreless tie. This was one of three times on the evening that Tri-County got deep into Central Montcalm territory, but each time they were turned away without any points on the scoreboard.

With eight minutes to play, Isaac Johnson ran the ball across the goal line from three yards out to give Central Montcalm the touchdown they would ultimately need to win this game.

At 3-1, the Hornets now travel to Grant next Friday night. Tri-County (2-2), meanwhile, will host the Big Rapids Cardinals as they try to move their record back above .500. Both of those games will be broadcast LIVE on MSR next Friday night.
