The Fremont Packers and Chippewa Hills Warriors battled on Friday night, with each team searching for their first victory of the year. After four quarters of play, Fremont secured their first win of 2021 with a 32-6 victory.

In the first quarter, Fremont found the end zone twice. Justin Dirheimer was the catalyst offensively, with a pair of rushing touchdowns. He first reeled off a 40-yard touchdown, and followed that up with an 18-yard sprint. That gave the Packers a 14-0 lead. They would extend the lead to 20 points with a 3-yard touchdown carry by Alex Gleason in the second quarter.

Fremont continued to push their lead in the third quarter. Alex Gleason tossed a touchdown, finding an open Wei Chen on a 26-yard scoring play. David Wachter booted an extra point to push the lead to 26 points.

Chippewa Hills finally got on the scoreboard late in the third quarter, as Logan Davis kept the football for a 12-yard rush. The Warriors missed the extra point.

In the fourth quarter, Fremont scored the only touchdown. For the third time in this game, Justin Dirheimer found the end zone. He broke off a 50-yard sprint to the end zone, capping off the Packers’ victory.

Fremont outgained Chippewa Hills 356-97 in this game. The Packers rushed for 324 yards, with Dirheimer tallying 231. Next week, Fremont will take on Reed City in their CSAA Gold finale. Chippewa Hills will conclude their conference slate against Newaygo.
