Big Rapids 56 Newaygo 0: The Cardinals dominated the Lions in their CSAA Gold opener. Big Rapids outgained Newaygo 495-53 in this game. Cole Haist was 14/17 passing for 171 yards and two touchdowns, while adding two rushing touchdowns on seven carries. Jack Bollman rushed for 92 yards, while Alexander Brandt added two rushing scores and an interception. Big Rapids averaged 10.5 yards per carry on 30 carries, while holding Newaygo to 1.5 yards per carry on 31 attempts.

Byron Center 34 Hammond Morton (IN) 17: The Bulldogs are in the win column after dispatching Indiana’s Hammond Morton. Byron Center dug in with the rushing attack, accumulating 41 carries compared to 7 attempts. Cam Payne led BC with 20 carries for 116 yards and two touchdowns, as well as 72 receiving yards. Brady Hartson kept the football six times for 55 yards and two touchdowns, and he found Cam Payne for his lone passing score.

Central Montcalm 46 Lakeview 6: The Hornets thrash the Wildcats to move to 3-0 on the season. They scored 40 points in the first half, and forced four Lakeview turnovers. McCoy Werholm had two touchdown runs, while Zayne Cooper’s interception tied the Central Montcalm career mark.

Forest Hills Northern 42 Forest Hills Central 10: The Huskies snapped an 11-game losing streak to the Rangers with their first win over the crosstown rivals since 2004. This is the third largest win by FHN in the 30-game series (57-15 in 2003 and 44-7 in 1978). Colton Sawyer turned19 carries into 222 yards and four touchdowns. Owen Ostipow added 104 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns on 13 carries. FHN outgained FHC 417-145.

Grandville 27 West Ottawa 14: The Bulldogs win without a touchdown from Tank Terry. Jeffrey Fogelsonger tossed a pair of scores in this victory, Braylen Haney and DJ Hardiman added rushing touchdowns, and the Grandville defense got a key interception late to seal the win.

Ludington 49 Fremont 0: The Orioles soar to 3-0 with a shutout of Fremont. Cam Gunsell was phenomenal once again, accounting for six total touchdowns (four passing, two rushing) and 329 yards of total offense. Ludington outgained the Packers 439-108.

Mason County Central 49 North Muskegon 21: The Spartans snap a nine-game skid in this series with a statement win over the Norse. It is the most points they’ve scored against North Muskegon since 2008.

Middleville 41 Wayland 14: The Trojans take down their longtime rivals in a stunning blowout. Micah Dock accounted for three touchdowns, two on the ground, while Owen Hood added a defensive touchdown with a 33-yard fumble recovery. The total yardage was close in this game, 263-222 in favor of Middleville, but two turnovers for Wayland proved fatal.

Northview 49 Sparta 0: The Wildcats improve to 3-0 with a thrashing of the previously unbeaten Spartans. Jalen Gant had a big night, with three touchdown runs in the first half. His third score late in the second quarter triggered the running clock in this rout. Northview now has won 12 straight regular season contests.

Oakridge 27 Manistee 8: The Eagles improve to 3-0 both overall and in the WMC Lakes with this victory. A big test lies ahead next week for Oakridge, as they face Ludington. Manistee slides to 2-1 with this defeat.

Unity Christian 35 Forest Hills Eastern 7: The ‘Saders fell behind 7-0 early, but rattled off 35 unanswered points to best FHE. Unity rushed 47 times for 254 yards on their way to a 360-165 total yardage advantage. Lucas Elliott paved the way with 12 carries for 113 yards, while Hudson Dierks and Levi Buller also added rushing scores. Jordan Shabazz found the endzone for FHE.

Wyoming 20 Ottawa Hills 12: The Wolves have won two straight games for the first time since 2019 with this win over the Bengals. Ottawa Hills has now lost 34 of 35 football contests dating back to the middle of 2021.
