The eighth week of the MHSAA football season is nearly complete, and we can already see the playoff picture starting to take place. With just one more week to go, conference title races are clearer, and the MSR team has it all for you. Below, you will see all of the area scores, key performances and links to game articles. OK RED
Rockford 34 Caledonia 14
East Kentwood 35 Grandville 20: East Kentwood moves to 6-2 with this win over Grandville. Kayd Coffman threw for three touchdowns in this victory. Grandville rallied from down 28-6 at halftime to get within a score at 28-20, with just under eight minutes to go. Austin Nelson came up with a huge interception for the Falcons, before Davien Nettleman iced it with a 15-yard touchdown carry.
Hudsonville 63 Grand Haven 14: The Eagles move to 8-0, tying several Eagles teams for the most wins in the regular season since at least 1950. A win next week over Grandville gives Hudsonville their first unbeaten regular season since 1978 (finished 8-0-1).
Jenison 9 West Ottawa 7: Jenison narrowly escapes West Ottawa with a remarkable walk-off field goal by Cohen Chatfield. His 48-yard field goal was the third kick that he booted on Friday night.
OK GOLD
Unity Christian 42 South Christian 14: The ‘Saders improve to a perfect 8-0 with this win over South. Justin Febus had a huge day in the win, rushing 14 times for 117 yards and two scores, in addition to throwing two touchdowns on just four completions. Unity Christian secures the outright OK Gold title with this victory.
Zeeland East 28 Forest Hills Central 14: The Chix secure their fifth win of the year, while almost certainly eliminating FHC from the postseason. Check out our game recap!

OK BLACK
GR Catholic Central 35 Northview 7: The Cougars move to 8-0 with this victory, securing the outright OK Black title. Moses Brown and Kamall Hillard each rushed for two touchdowns, while Odin Spencer found Dean Armock on a 59-yard strike for the Cougars’ fifth score. Jalen Gant carried the football 12 yards for the only Northview score, as the Wildcats slide to 5-3 with their third loss in four games.
Middleville 22 Holland Christian 21: Middleville secures five wins in a regular season for the first time since 2018 with a win over the Maroons. Trailing 21-10 midway through the third quarter, Middleville rallied to secure the key victory. Micah Dock cut the lead in half with a quarterback keeper, before Debo Robinson broke free for a 25-yard carry with 6:10 to go. That last score would prove to be enough, as Holland Christian reached the Middleville 24 yard line, but ultimately the game ended on an interception by defensive back Camden Peter.

OK GREEN
Byron Center 41 Forest Hills Northern 13: The Bulldogs secured their fourth straight victory by demolishing the Huskies (3-5). Easton Wychers was 8/10 passing for 150 yards and a score, while he also rushed for a touchdown. Cam Payne returned to the lineup and provided an offensive spark, rushing 24 times for 172 yards and four touchdowns. Chase Swartz caught Wychers’ lone touchdown toss. In defeat, Owen Ostipow was 11/18 passing for 168 yards and a touchdown, in addition to 106 rushing yards and a score on 19 carries.
Muskegon 61 Reeths-Puffer 7: The Big Reds are OK Green champs with their sixth straight victory. Amiere Chandler and Lamar Bradford each found the end zone multiple times, while Mason Darke scored Puffer’s lone touchdown on an 84-yard kickoff return.

West Catholic 31 Forest Hills Eastern 21: The Falcons won the outright OK White title with a win at home on Friday. Collin Abram had a big night, rushing 15 times for 149 yards and two scores. Conner Olszewski added 124 rushing yards on his fifteen carries, as the Falcons had 280 yards on the ground as a team. Grady Augustyn overcame two interceptions to finish 11/18 passing for 188 yads and a score, with six catches, 119 yards and that touchdown going to Thomas Puksta. In defeat, Drew Ferrick rushed 13 times for 122 yards and two scores, while Luke Rosenbrook hauled in 10 catches for 200 yards and a touchdown.
GR Christian 31 Wayland 21: The Eagles defeat the Wildcats behind a balanced offensive attack. GRC passed for 158 yards, while rushing for 148. Charlie King was 11/15 passing, tossing three scores, two to Justin Davis. In defeat, Wayland rushed 50 times for 399 yards, including a 228-yard rushing game for Jake Reeder (8.4 YPC). GRC scored 21 unanswered points in the middle of this game to seize the lead.

Godwin Heights 41 Kelloggsville 22: The Wolverines improve to 7-1, their best mark since 2017. This victory sets up a winner-take-all battle for the OK Silver next week against Belding. Check out our game recap here!

Ludington 55 Orchard View 15: The Orioles move to 8-0 with their win over Orchard View. Cam Gunsell was 17/24 passing for 207 yards and two scores, while adding 19 carries for 189 yads and four more touchdowns. On defense, he had five tackles and a TFL. Mikey Himes rushed six times for 115 yads and a score. Ca’Mari Reese scored both Orchard View touchdowns with an 80-yard kickoff return and 44-yard rushing score.

Frankenmuth 27 Freeland 13: The Falcons led 13-6 at the half, but they were unable to hold off Frankenmuth in the second half. Leyton Hoard accounted for three total touchdowns, including a 28-yard pass to Cash Tedford, who had two touchdowns of his own. Max Heyn had two scores for Freeland as well, rushing for one and passing to Zander Wheatley on the other.

Twin City Sharks 28 Byron 18: The Sharks trailed three separate times in this game, before two late fourth quarter touchdowns allowed them to secure a victory. Evan Watts rushed for 186 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries, while Anthony Ealey and Ethan Eggert each found the end zone. TCS has now won three straight games, and four of their past five.

GR Sacred Heart 61 Muskegon Heights 8: The Falcons stymie the Tigers in their final SWMFL-II contest, outgaining the opposition 344-53, with the Tigers finishing with (-10) rushing yards. GR Sacred Heart scored 61 points in the first half, with Will Hyland accounting for five touchdowns (three passing, two rushing) and Andrew Detmers added two touchdown runs on the ground. Muskegon Heights scored with two minutes to play on a touchdown pass from Demetrius Purnell to Corey Duncan, before Kaevauhn Sims added the conversion run.

Mendon 46 Climax Scotts 20: The Hornets remain unbeaten with a statement win over the Panthers. Mendon jumped out to a 14-0 lead and never looked back, outgaining Climax Scotts 374-288. Owen Gorham rushed 23 times for 242 yards and four touchdowns.
