The Zeeland West Dux picked up a strong victory against Forest Hills Central on Friday to move to 5-1. This was a big bounce back performance after a tough defeat last week against Unity Christian.
In the first quarter, Jonah Leslie got the Dux on the scoreboard first. He carried the football 19 yards across the goal line, and gave Zeeland West an early 6-0 advantage.
On the first play of the second quarter, the lead grew to 14 points. Isaac VanderZwaag was able to find the end zone from a yard out, before Trey Sloothaak added the two-point conversion.
Forest Hills Central got their touchdown on a 42-yard toss from Nick Williams to Seder Middaugh. The 14-7 score would hold as the teams went to the break.
The second half was all Dux. Keaton Hendricks provided the highlights with two touchdown runs. His carries of 6 and 32 yards gave Zeeland West their eventual 28-7 victory. He ended the night with 109 rushing yards on 11 carries.
In this loss, FHC was led by Seder Middaugh, who had 4 receptions for 67 yards and the lone touchdown, while also adding 6 tackles defensively.
Next week, Zeeland West continues OK Gold play against Wyoming. Forest Hills Central (4-2) will face off with the Dux’ fierce rivals, the Zeeland East Chix.
