The Middleville Trojans got the best of Wayland in an OK Gold battle on Friday evening. The Trojans raced out to a 42-0 lead, eventually capturing a 45-20 victory.

Zack Gibson had a strong game on both sides of the ball, catching two scores from Carsen Burbridge and returning a fumble for a 22-yard score. The fumble was one of four costly fumbles that the Wildcats coughed up in this ball game.

Carsen Burbridge finished 6/10 passing for 96 yards and three touchdowns, with another score thrown to Matthew Middleton. Burbridge also rushed for a touchdown. Tyler Gavette scored a touchdown as well for the victorious Trojans. Alex Harrington converted on six extra points and a 41-yard field goal.

Dustin Loomans was a part of all three Wayland scores. Twice, he found Ian Thompson on long scores, and he also rushed for a touchdown.

With this victory, Middleville now sits at 2-6 on the year. They conclude their 2021 campaign against Ottawa Hills. Wayland has now suffered nine straight defeats, and defeats in 26 of their last 27 games. They will hope to reverse course against Forest Hills Eastern on Friday.
