Through the first six weeks of the season there wasn’t a hotter team on the map than the Zeeland West Dux. For the last couple weeks, West has fallen in a couple tough battles against solid opponents. This week it was another battle for the Dux as they took on a hot Reeths-Puffer team.

The Dux would get things started in this one on a 9-yard touchdown pass that would give West a 6-0 lead. Reeths-Puffer would bounce back, however. Brody Johnson catch a pass from Antrel Jones from 23-yards out and the Rockets would then hold a 7-6 lead after one. Both defenses really settled in in this one. The offenses would be held off the scoreboard in the second and the Rockets would hold on to that slim lead at the half.

Reeths-Puffer would strike again in the third to up their lead. Johnson, this time, would scamper in on his own from 13-yards away. This gave the Rockets a 14-6 advantage. The Dux would respond on a 4-yard touchdown run. The two-point try would fail but it would cut the lead to 12-14. West really had a chance to grab this one but it would be for not. Reeths-Puffer holds on in a tight defensive battle, 14-12.

The Rockets improve to 7-2 on the season. The Reeths-Puffer defense was big all night and helped them limit the Dux both by air and on the ground. Antrel Jones was solid through the air going 10 of 13 for 110 yards and a touchdown. Brody Johnson had a big game with 75 yards rushing and a touchdown. He added a receiving touchdown to the resume. Reeths-Puffer heads into the playoffs as a dangerous football team.

Zeeland West falls to 6-3 on the season. The Dux really had trouble getting their offense going all night as they were held to just 245 yards of total offense. West has been hit with an injury that has hurt them but look for them to be ready come playoff time. This is a team that still has all the pieces to make a deep playoff run.
