The Catholic Central Cougars were able to bounce back in a big way in week two with a 38-6 win over River Rouge. This week they would take on a Wayland team who has started their season the right way. This would be the Cougars night, however.

Catholic Central jumped on the board first when Connor Wolf took in an 11-yard touchdown run. This would give the Cougars an early 6-0 advantage. Catholic Central would strike again in the quarter. This time Wolf would find Mill Coleman on a 10-yard touchdown pass. The Cougars would cruise through the opening quarter, 13-0.

The opening half couldn’t have started any better for Catholic Central as they would continue to pour it on. Kellen Russell-Dixon would find all kinds of daylight from 75-yards away. This gave the Cougars a 20-0 lead. It was Wolf again midway through the quarter. The Senior at the helm took in an 11-yard run. He wasn’t done yet on the half. With just seconds left, Wolf would find Austin Baxter on a 28-yard connection. It was all Catholic Central after one half, 35-0.

Things would slow down a bit to begin the half before the Cougars would score late in the third. Kamal Hilliard plunged in from 3-yards. That would be that for the quarter as Catholic Central held a firm 42-0 lead.

Wayland was able to find some points for themselves early in the final quarter. Kaharrie Pureifoy would take one in from 24-yards away. It would just be a little too late here as Catholic Central cruises, 42-7.

This was a big wakeup call for the Wildcats as they still realize they have a ways to go. They move to 2-1 on the young season and will have a chance to bounce back against a Cedar Springs team coming off a thrilling overtime win. Wayland will head into Cedar Springs for the first home game of the year for the Red Hawks.

The Cougars showed they are far removed from their week one loss. Catholic Central moves to 2-1 on the season and will take on an 0-3 Thornapple Kellogg team who fell to the aforementioned Cedar Springs in week three. The Cougars invade Bob White Stadium next Friday night.
