The Comstock Park Panthers haven’t had an easy go of things to begin the 2023 season. But after putting together another big offensive performance last week the Panthers were able get their first win out of the way. This week Comstock Park would look to see if both their offense and defense could get on par with each other.

This one couldn’t have been a better start for the Panthers. They would strike first when Donavon Cummings connected with Christian Robinson on a 18-yard strike. Comstock Park held a 6-0 lead. The two decided to hook up again shortly after, this time from 35-yards away. This gave Comstock Park an early 13-0 advantage. It was a quarter that couldn’t end for Holland. Cummings would throw his third touchdown pass of the quarter when he found Easton Hood from 55-yards away. All Panthers to that point, 19-0. But they weren’t done yet. This time Hood decided to throw his own touchdown pass when he found Preston Gates. They would hold a 26-0 lead after one.

The second quarter was nearly as good as the first for the Panthers. Playing in their first home game of the year, they would strike again. Kendrick Castillo-Perez pounced in from 2-yards away to give the home team a 32-0 lead. Everyone wanted in on the action as Ever Benitez ran one in from 10-yards out. With a 39-0 advantage, the Panthers just weren’t done yet. Comstock Park would find the endzone for the seventh time in the half on a Cummings 11-yard run. The Panthers had everything working as they would head into the locker room with a 46-0 lead.

Kelloggsville was able to take a breath to begin the half as they would grab their first points of the night. A 13-yard run by Jeremie Tsoumu would cut the lead to 6-46 to end the third.

Comstock Park took the foot off the pedal as expected but would put points on the board in the fourth. Benitez found his way in from 7-yards out up the Panthers lead to 53-6. The Rockets would end this one with some good things to look at, though. They punched another one from 13-yards away on a Terrell Jones II rushing touchdown. It goes Kelloggsville some hope but it wouldn’t be their night tonight. Comstock Park goes on to win in a big way, 53-13.

The Rockets will move to 0-3 on the season as things have not been kind to them. They will look to see if they can shift gears a bit when they take on Sparta next week. The Spartans are coming off a dominant win over Godwin Heights.

Comstock Park has had their offense rolling all season and tonight wasn’t any different. An even bigger indicator for the Panthers if the fact that they played their best defensive game of the season. It will be a big test for them next week as they take on Belding. The Black Knights will welcome them in next Friday night.
