The Grand Rapids Catholic Central Cougars faced a fellow unbeaten club on Friday night, as they squared off with Forest Hills Eastern. Though the Hawks struck first, the Cougars got the last laugh in a 49-21 victory.

Max Ferrick got Forest Hills Eastern on the board four minutes into the action. His 10-yard carry gave the Hawks a 7-0 lead. The Cougars would quickly respond with three touchdowns of their own. Connor Wolf aired it out to Billy Mikolay in the first quarter, a 5-yard toss. The next two scores came from Kellen Russell-Dixon, who carried the football for runs of 17 and 26 yards.

Forest Hills Eastern snapped the drought with a 46-yard touchdown pass from Brendan Thompson to Drew Patten. The Cougars would counter with a pass from Wolf to Nate VanTimmeren, giving them a 28-14 halftime lead.

The Hawks got within a touchdown, as Bryson Kuzdzal found the end zone on a 2-yard carry. From that point forward, it was all Cougars. Kellen Russell-Dixon broke off two more touchdown runs, carries of 64 and 1 yards. With five minutes to go, Wolf and Michael App paired up for a 26-yard score.

Forest Hills Eastern was led by Brendan Thompson, who was 14/27 passing for 170 yards. Bryson Kuzdzal had a team-high 115 rushing yards to go along with 46 receiving yards.

Connor Wolf was 19/30 passing for GRCC, racking up 284 yards. Kellen Russell-Dixon had 203 rushing yards on 19 carries. Michael App had 125 receiving yards on 4 catches.

Next week, GRCC (5-0) will take on South Christian. Forest Hills Eastern (4-1) will look to rebound against Middleville.
