Points were a plenty in the OK Red battle between East Kentwood and Grandville. Ultimately a few stops would prove to be the difference in Grandville’s victory, 43-28.

After a scoreless first quarter, Grandville took the lead in the opening plays of the second. Jayden “Tank” Terry was able to power through the line for a 10-yard touchdown that gave Grandville a 8-0 lead. Shortly after, Elisee Kanda and EK responded with a 12-yard equalizer.

Although Grandville is known for its ground attack, a 54-yard touchdown pass from Cash Ruff to Eastin Suidinski. An explosive interception by Aven Kaat set up the next scoring play from two-yards out, another Tank Terry touchdown.

Grandville took a 13-point lead to the break, and saw that quickly expand to 21 with a 72-yard touchdowns trike from Ruff to Terry. East Kentwood would draw as close as two scores, but never closer.

Tank Terry rushed for 91 yards and four touchdowns in this victory. He again shows why he is regarded as one of the state’s best tailbacks in his class. Cash Ruff threw for 126 yards and two scores, and added 48 yards rushing. At 3-1, 2-0 in OK Red play, Grandville will face Hudsonville next week.

In defeat, East Kentwood was led by quarterback Casey Joppie. The gunslinger completed 25 passes for 385 yards and two touchdowns. The Falcons are now 1-3 on the young season, 0-2 in league play. Next week, they will look to snap a three-game skid against Grand Haven.
