Two of Muskegon’s most historic programs, Muskegon Catholic Central and Oakridge, met on Thursday night. In a tightly-contested Week 2 matchup, Oakridge slipped past MCC with a 20-14 win.

Oakridge would open up the scoring in the first quarter, as Matt Danicek would find Trever Jones for a touchdown pass that made it 8-0 early on.

In the second quarter, Oakridge would add another score to their lead. After catching a touchdown pass in the first quarter, Jones would find the end zone once again early in the second. This time, a 48-yard touchdown run gave Oakridge a 14-0 lead.

Muskegon Catholic Central would respond, as Chase Willer found the end zone with a 5-yard carry that brought the score to 14-7 in favor of the Eagles entering the half.

Oakridge would strike in the third quarter, as Danicek would find Evan Miller for the score, extending their advantage to thirteen points. The final score of the ball game would come late from Muskegon Catholic Central, as Bryan Convertini would find the end zone.

With this win, Oakridge now sits at 2-0 on the year. They begin WMC-Lakes play against Manistee next week. Muskegon Catholic Central slides to 1-1. They will square off with Benton Harbor next Friday.
