DIVISION 1 REGION 3 at Byron Center
Rockford 54 Hudsonville 32: The Rams lost a pair of regular season contests to Hudsonville, defeats of 14 and 10. The third time was the charm for the Rockford ladies, as they defeated the Eagles by 22 points to secure the regional championship. Rockford got out to an 11-6 first quarter lead, and they extended that margin to 13 at halftime. They only added a single point to the advantage in the third, before finishing strong. Elle Irwin (13), Anna Wypych (11) and Grace Lyons (10) were in double figures for Rockford. Jaci Tubergen (14) led Hudsonville offensively.
DIVISION 1 REGION 4 at Mattawan
East Lansing 56 Battle Creek Lakeview 44: The Trojans led 26-25 at halftime, but Lakeview battled back to take a 36-34 third quarter lead. The offense ramped up in the fourth quarter, and East Lansing capitalized to seize the regional championship.
DIVISION 2 REGION 9 at Gaylord
Ludington 34 Negaunee 31: The Orioles battled throughout the night with the Miners in Thursday’s regional title bout. In the end, Ludington was three points better, capturing the crown to advance to the Division 2 Quarterfinals.
DIVISION 2 REGION 10 at Frankenmuth
Frankenmuth 42 Swan Valley 28: The Eagles secured the regional title with a win over their conference rival. Mia McLaughlin and Emma Kerkau each scored 13 points for the ‘Muth. This is the program’s first regional championship in 26 years.
DIVISION 2 REGION 11 at Orchard View
West Catholic 55 Newaygo 29: It was a battle of two of the area’s best teams on Thursday night, and although the best player on the floor was kept in check, her teammates stepped up to deliver the regional championship trophy back to West Catholic High School. Cadence Dykstra paced WC offensively with 17 points, while Elisha Dykstra (9) and Emma Tuttle (7) added strong offensive performances. Newaygo was led by Jaxi Long (15 points) and Emmerson Goodin (9 points, 6 rebounds). West Catholic started the game on an 11-0 run, which helped create a 27-7 halftime lead. The Falcons never looked back, soaring past the Lions for their first regional title in 27 years.
DIVISION 2 REGION 12 at Vicksburg
Edwardsburg 59 Wayland 57: The Lady Eddies, now 24-0, captured the regional championship for the first time in school history. They got everything that Wayland could offer, but the Wildcats fell two points shy. Averie Markel posted a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Katie Schaible added 13 points, while Macey Laubach tossed in 10. Ella Castelucci had another near triple-double with an 11 point, 9 rebound and 8 steal performance.
DIVISION 2 REGION 13 at Tecumseh
Portland 47 Chelsea 22: The Raiders secured the regional championship with a convincing win over the Bulldogs. Portland created a 14-4 first quarter lead and extended that margin to 17 at the half. The third quarter was big for the Raiders, who extended their lead to 26 points.
DIVISION 3 REGION 19 at Northpointe Christian
Kent City 46 Covenant Christian 32: The Eagles’ perfect season continues, as they captured a regional championship at NPC on Thursday night. Lexie Bowers powered Kent City with 19 points, while Madelyn Geers (16) and Taryn Preston (8) added to the scoring leaders.
DIVISION 4 REGION 29 at Martin
Muskegon Heights 43 Gobles 41: The Heights won the “Battle of the Tigers” for the regional crown. In defeat, Gobles was led by Amanda Barber, who scored 14 points. Emma Baxter and McKenzie Lisowski each added 10 for Gobles.
