Newaygo 53 Grant 42: The Lions improved to 12-0 in league play with a victory over the Tigers. It was 26-25 at the midpoint of the game, but a 16-5 third quarter allowed Newaygo to create some breathing room on the scoreboard. Newaygo shook off the flu bug that has caused six girls to miss practice time throughout the week. Jaxi Long finished with 21 points, included 8/8 from the free throw line. Emmerson Goodin added 15 points, 9 rebounds and 5 steals. Lily Swinehart had 8 points and 4 boards.

Reed City 47 Central Montcalm 33

Tri-County 48 Fremont 38: The Vikings traveled to Fremont on Senior Night. Fremont jumped out to an early 9-0 lead, but their offense stalled afterward. It was 29-28 Fremont after the third quarter, but a 20-9 final frame delivered a victory to Tri-County. Mary Siple (22) and Ashley Johnson (12) led the way for TC, while Haley Zerlaut (10 points, 6 assists, 6 steals) and Mia Witte (10 points) paced Fremont.

 

CSAA SILVER

Kent City 59 Holton 23: The Eagles improve their record to 18-0 on the season, coasting past the Red Devils. Eight KC players found the bottom of the basket in this victory. Lexie Bowers paced the victors with 15 points, 9 assists and 8 steals. Madelyn Geers added 14 points and 7 rebounds, while Taryn Preston chipped in 11.

Morley Stanwood 48 Hesperia 22: The Mohawks defeated the Panthers in league play on Friday. Madison Garbow led MS with 15 points, while Braelyn Berry added 12.

 

LAKES 8 CONFERENCE

Ludington 56 Muskegon Catholic Central 36: The Orioles jumped out to a 21-8 first quarter lead, and they expanded the halftime advantage to a 40-17 tally. RyAnn Rohrer (14) and Keelyn Laird (17) led Ludington in scoring. McKenna Gentry (8), Sara Albanese (7) and Grace Staniforth (7) paced MCC.

Allendale 44 Holland Christian 32: The Falcons secured an OK Blue victory against the Maroons. Jatriana Wilson led Allendale with 16 points.

Spring Lake 36 Unity Christian 33: The Lakers took down the ‘Saders in their 2021-22 home finale. Spring Lake led 5-4 early, before Unity Christian secured the lead for a large duration of the contest. Jennifer Judge’s key triple evened the score at 27 all, before the ‘Saders regained a 32-27 lead with four minutes to go. Spring Lake would rally back with a key triple from Judge pushing the team back in front. Ella Andree’s layup iced the game. Judge finished with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Ella Andree added 13 points and 5 steals, while Meah Bajt had 4 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.

West Catholic 61 Coopersville 17: The Falcons jumped out to a 24-2 first quarter lead with an array of scoring options. WC expanded on that lead with a 45-8 advantage. In the second half, it was more of the same, allowing West Catholic to win their final road game of the regular season.

Cedar Springs 36 Kenowa Hills 34 (Wednesday)

South Christian 59 Forest Hills Eastern 48: The Sailors move to 15-3 overall on the season, maintaining their lead in the OK Gold race. Sydney Vis paced the victors with 25 points, while Ashley Raredon chipped in 10 points.

OK GREEN

Mona Shores 50 Muskegon 25: The Sailors got revenge on their earlier loss to Muskegon, doubling up the Big Reds on the scoreboard. Mia Brown and Lily Miller each scored 16 points to pace Mona Shores, while Olivia Sobczak and Khaleeya Cook finished with 6.

Reeths Puffer 61 Holland 39

Zeeland East 63 Wyoming 40: The Chix, fresh off their first victory on Tuesday, continued their roll with another victory on Friday night. Ahead just 20-14 at halftime, Zeeland East extended their lead in the second half. Maddie Schuur led ZE with 25 points, burying six triples. Rachel Miller added 16 points, while Mirra Fenlon finished with 10.

Zeeland West 63 Union 42: The Dux defeated the Red Hawks on Senior Night in Zeeland. West got out to a 12-2 lead in the first four minutes, and they turned that advantage into a 31-9 halftime score. Jordyn Klaasen led ZW with 14 points, while Tia Martinez (13), Ally Yonker (10) and Kara Bartels (10) were also in double figures.

East Kentwood 62 Grand Haven 51: The Falcons converted at the charity stripe in the fourth quarter, allowing them to hold off the Bucs. Zoe Spoelman (19) and Caydee Constant (9) led Grand Haven in scoring.

Hudsonville 73 Grandville 31

Rockford 59 Jenison 47: The Rams took down the ‘Cats in OK Red action. Jenison led 14-9 after the first quarter, but a 21-8 second quarter provided a rally for Rockford. They followed that up with a 16-8 third quarter advantage, setting them up for victory. Alyssa Wypych (14) and Megan McCauley (10) were in double figures for the victors. Ella Haik (13), Elsie Norton (12) and Christine Duch (11) led Jenison.

West Ottawa 42 Caledonia 28: The Panthers defeated the Fighting Scots in an OK Red showdown on Friday. Molly Borski and Gabby Reynolds each scored 10 points for the victorious WO squad.

Hopkins 70 Godwin Heights 48: The Vikings defeated the Wolverines in OK Silver play on Friday. Mady Weber (16), Nevaeh Helderop (16) and Lia VanderVeen (9) led Hopkins offensively.

Lowell 54 East Grand Rapids 44: The Red Arrows took down their rivals in a competitive OK White matchup. Braxcynn Baker, Lexi Howell and Taryn Jackson each scored 13 points for Lowell. Emma Bruwer added 9 points, while Piper Risdon collected 10 rebounds.

 

WEST MICHIGAN CONFERENCE

Hart 47 Montague 35: Thursday pitted the two best teams in the WMC against each other, and in front of a rowdy atmosphere the Pirates emerged with a victory that secured the team’s first conference title since 1993. Montague missed some bunnies, and shot 6/19 from the charity stripe. To contrast, Hart converted 18/23 free throw attempts. This gap alone served as the margin on the scoreboard. Kendall Osborne led the ‘Gue with 10 points, while Claire Meacham added 12 rebounds. Addi Hovey led Hart with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 7 steals, while Aspen Boutell posted a 14-point effort.

Oakridge 34 North Muskegon 20 (Thursday)

Shelby 44 Ravenna 21: The Tigers and Bulldogs got off to a slow start, with Ravenna holding a 5-2 lead after one quarter. Shelby proceeded to win the next two quarters 16-3 and 21-2 to take a commanding lead. Kendall Zoulek finished 9/26 from the floor, scoring 21 points. Molli Schultz added 10 for the victors. Ravenna finished 6/34 shooting in this game.

Whitehall 28 Mason County Central 23: The Vikings defeated the Spartans on Thursday in WMC play. MCC led 22-20 after the third quarter, but Whitehall ratcheted up the defense, holding the Spartans to a single point. Charley Klint led the victors with 11 points and 8 rebounds.

 

OTHER GAMES IN THE MSR COVERAGE AREA

Coloma 38 Lawton 28: The Blue Devils went on the road, but they were unable to get past Coloma. The Comets brought some scrappy energy that proved to be the difference.

Edwardsburg 69 Niles 26: The Lady Eddies are now 18-0 on the season with another victory over the Vikings. Macey Laubach (16 points, 6 steals), Ella Castelucci (14 points, 5 steals), Katie Schaible (13 points, 5 assists) and Averie Markel (9 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals) led Edwardsburg offensively.

Gobles 38 Kalamazoo Hackett 35: The Tigers needed overtime to secure this victory over Hackett. It required overtime, but Gobles returned home with the win. Kennadi Killeen led Gobles with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Amanda Barber added 8 points, 6 assists and 5 steals. Emma Baxter tossed in 8 points and 8 rebounds.

Mason County Eastern 38 Pentwater 29 (Thursday)

Otsego 51 Paw Paw 37: The Bulldogs were able to take down Paw Paw on Friday. This victory allowed Otsego to improve to 16-2 on the season, while also capturing the Wolverine North Championship.

Saugatuck 52 Fennville 23: The Trailblazers travelled to Fennville for the annual Wes Leonard game, and they build a 13-6 first quarter lead. That advantage increased to 28-10 at the half, but Fennville trimmed it by a point in the third frame. Madisynn Jefferson and Najeeah Chambers each scored 6 points to lead Fennville.
