Kent City 61 Central Montcalm 31: The Eagles had seven girls score in their convincing win over Central Montcalm. Lexie Bowers led the way with 23 points and 5 assists. Madelyn Geers added 16 points and 9 rebounds, while Emmalyn Geers scored 12 points. Abby Pecynski finished with 8 rebounds for the victors.

Newaygo 48 Holton 26: The Lions captured a non-league victory on Tuesday evening, defeating the Red Devils. Holton led 10-7 after the first quarter, but a 20-0 second quarter allowed the Lions to take control at halftime. Emmerson Goodin led Newaygo with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 6 steals. Jaxi Long added 13 points, 4 steals and 4 assists. Kayla Fisk joined the double-digit scoring party with 10 points, as well as 4 steals.

 

CSAA-SILVER

Hesperia 24 Mason County Eastern 22: The Panthers held off MCE on Monday evening. It was 6-3 Hesperia after the first quarter, before MCE outpaced the Panthers 12-8 to take a one-point halftime lead. A 6-2 third quarter would prove pivotal as Hesperia got back in front and remained in control. Abby Joppich scored 10 points for the victorious Panthers. Corrinna Hernandez led MCE with 8 points.

Lexie Bowers led the Eagles with 23 points, 7 assists and 5 steals, effectively shooting behind the arc at a 6/9 clip. Abbie Fowler (7) and Ryann Robins (6 points, 10 rebounds) led the way for Holton.

Muskegon Catholic Central 36 Hesperia 15: The Crusaders improve their record to 4-5 on the season. They led 17-2 after the first quarter, and 22-6 at halftime. A 6-0 advantage in the third quarter, put MCC in strong position. Sara Albanese led the victors with 16 points, while Carrie Ladd added 5.

Spring Lake 45 Hamilton 32: The Lakers defeated the Hawkeyes at home on Tuesday evening. It was 8-6 Hamilton after the first quarter, before Spring Lake won the second quarter 17-12. In the third frame, the Lakers took control with a 14-5 advantage. Ella Andree led Spring Lake with 16 points, while Meah Bajt and Jennifer Judge each scored 10.

West Catholic 68 Fruitport 9: The Falcons cruised past the Trojans in OK Blue action on Tuesday. Abbey Kimball continued her impressive mark of outscoring opponents, as she finished with 23 points. Emma Tuttle added 9 points, and the other nine Falcons also finished in the scoring column. West Catholic is now 11-1 on the season and a perfect 6-0 in the OK Blue.

Mona Shores 51 Holland 23: The Sailors are back in the win column with a thrashing of the Holland Dutch. Mona Shores got out to a 14-2 first quarter start, and they held Holland to single digits in all four quarters. Lily Miller scored 12 to lead Mona Shores, while Olivia Sobczak added 11. Ali Phillips and Jenna Tierman each tossed in 8 points. Ariana Gray scored 11 points for Holland.

OK RED

East Kentwood 55 Caledonia 51: It was a back-and-forth battle in the OK Red on Tuesday evening. It was tied at 51 with a minute to play. EK attacked the basket, scored and drew the foul. Although the free throw was missed, East Kentwood secured the offensive rebound, leading the Falcons back to the charity stripe, where they would secure the victory. Deyonce Thompson led EK with 16 points. Gracie Gortmaker led all scorers with 21 for Caledonia.

Hudsonville 68 Jenison 37: The Wildcats battled, remaining within twelve points in the third quarter. Hudsonville pulled away in the end, capturing a comfortable victory. Maddie Petroelje (15) and Jaci Tubergen (11) were in double figures for Hudsonville. Terin Maynard (17) and Christine Duch (10) did the same for Jenison.

Rockford 47 West Ottawa 20: The Rams defeated the Panthers, dealing WO their first loss of the 2021-22 season.

Hopkins 36 Comstock Park 34: Maya Kerber delivered a putback at the buzzer that carried the Vikings to victory. Mady Weber and Ellie Sebright each scored for 9 for Hopkins, with Nevaeh Helderop added 6.

Sparta 66 Godwin Heights 29: The Spartans defeated the Wolverines rather convincingly on Tuesday. Ashley Cowdrey had 15 points, 10 assists, 9 rebounds and 7 steals for Sparta. Averi Peot and Bella Vallone each added 13 points.

East Grand Rapids 58 Forest Hills Northern 53: The Pioneers are continuing their hot streak with a fourth straight victory. Macy Brown was on fire, scoring 28 points for EGR. Lizzie Lundeen added 8 points, while Kate Sheridan and Allie Tol each finished with 6.

Grand Rapids Christian 67 Lowell 50: The Eagles took down the Red Arrows in conference action on Tuesday. Emma Bruwer led Lowell with 18 points, while Piper Risdon scored 12.

Fennville 42 Bangor 29: The Blackhawks earned their first victory of the 2021-22 season on Monday evening, topping the Vikings by thirteen. Fennville was ahead by seven after the opening frame, and they pushed that lead to nine at halftime. Heading into the fourth quarter, it was still a seven-point game in favor of Fennville. The Blackhawks were able to push the final margin in securing the victory. Lila Rosema led the way for Fennville with 15 points, while Christina Mendoza added 10. Najeeah Chambers finished with 6 points on the night. “I’m so happy for our girls tonight, to see them get their first win of the season put a big smile on my face,” Fennville Head Coach Josh Weimer shared. “I hope this win inspires them to want more, and to believe in the process they have committed to even more. They deserve this, and they earned it.”

Gobles 61 Constantine 40: The Tigers captured a SAC victory over Constantine. Amanda Barber led Gobles with 18 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Kennadi Killeen added 10 rebounds, a monster effort on the glass.

 

WEST MICHIGAN CONFERENCE

Hart 54 Mason County Central: The Pirates traveled up to Spartan Country, holding off the late MCC charge to capture a victory. Hart led 16-4 after the first quarter, but MCC got within four points late in the fourth quarter. Key triples by Morgan Marvin and Kendal Williamson helped the Pirates emerge victorious. Addi Hovey (13 points, 7 rebounds, 5 steals), Abby Hicks (11 points, 5 steals, 4 rebounds, 3 assists) and Aspen Boutell (10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists) were in double figures for Hart.

Montague 56 Oakridge 44: The Wildcats trailed by a point after the first quarter, and 35-32 after the third quarter. Using a 24-9 final frame, Montague propelled themselves to victory. Emma Dyer scored a team-high 11 points for the victors, while Claire Meacham added a 10-point, 11-rebound performance. Montague made 36 trips to the foul line, converting on 22 of those chances.

Shelby 33 North Muskegon 12: The Tigers cruised past the North Muskegon crew in WMC action. Kendall Zoulek finished with 15 points, nearly half of the team total and more than the opposition. Lauren Brown added 6 points for the Tigers.

Whitehall 41 Ravenna 29: The Vikings got out to a 13-4 first quarter lead, and they carried that advantage through the remaining three quarters, securing a victory. Charley Klint had another phenomenal game with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Lol Buckner scored 8 points for Whitehall, as did Onnyka Dempsey. Madeline Kilbourne paced Ravenna with 12 points in defeat.

 

OTHER RESULTS

Edwardsburg 71 Sturgis 21: The Eddies went on the road on Tuesday, returning home with their perfect 12-0 record intact. Edwardsburg jumped out to a 21-8 first quarter lead and followed that up with a 17-0 second quarter. Katie Schaible (15), Macey Laubach (13) and Ella Castelucci (11) were in double figures for the Eddies. Karin Whitcomb’s 7-point night paced Sturgis.

Frankenmuth 54 Birch Run 11: The Eagles soared past Birch Run, scoring 21, 12, and 20 points in the opening three quarters, while allowing just 9 total points. Mia McLaughlin led the way with 17, while Zoey Persails added 16.
