The Lawrence Tigers entered Friday night’s game against Bloomingdale with a 6-2 record. In their final regular season game before the playoffs, they faced a 1-7 Cardinals club. A mismatch on paper resulted in a mismatch on the gridiron, with Lawrence capturing a 70-12 victory.
Offensively, the Tigers ground game produced 451 yards and 5 touchdowns. Sophomore Christian Smith ran the ball 20 times for 281 yards and 2 touchdowns, while quarterback Bol Bak ran 10 times for 61 yards and 2 scores. Justin Ledsema ran only twice for 36 yards and a touchdown.
Bak also completed 9 of 13 passes for 128 yards and 4 touchdowns. Ledesma caught 2 passes for 56 yards and a score while Smith caught three passes for 43 yards and a touchdown. John Schuman caught 2 passes for a touchdown and 23 yards which gave him 1,022 receiving yards for the season.
On defense, Logan Lagrow led a stingy defense with 10 tackles 5 resulting in losses; Jamin Rodriguez had five tackles and a fumble recovery; Mason Leighton had a 29 yard scoop and score.
Lawrence has qualified for the playoffs in 8-Man Division 1. They will learn their playoff foe on Sunday evening. The Tigers will look to win a playoff game for the second straight season after taking down Gobles 52-28 last fall.
