The Fremont Packers started 2021 with four losses on the season. This week, that streak continued, though not without optimism. They led or were tied for the first thirty-nine minutes of the game, but a late touchdown gave Grant the 20-14 victory.

With 7:25 remaining in the opening frame, Fremont struck first. Justin Dirheimer, who entered the game tied for the CSAA-Gold lead in rushing touchdowns, added to his tally with a 3-yard plunge. A successful kick on the conversion by David Wachter gave the team a 7-0 lead.

Brady Jacobs rallied for Grant, as the quarterback used his legs on a 4-yard touchdown run. The missed conversion left Fremont ahead 7-6 with one second left in the first quarter. Neither team would score the remainder of the lead, leaving the Packers ahead by a point with two quarters left.

Early in the third quarter, Fremont extended their lead. Owen Hertel ripped off a 6-yard run, giving the Packers a 14-6 advantage. This would last for six minutes, before Jacobs showed off his running skills with a 49-yard sprint through the Fremont defense for a score. They failed the conversion again, leaving Fremont ahead 14-12.

With nine minutes to go, Brady Jacobs brought home the victory for Grant. He scored his third touchdown, a 7-yard run, with nine minutes left. It was a great game for Brady Jacobs. Jacobs was 8/12 passing, tallying 68 yards. He was also the leading rusher, with 30 carries and 155 rushing yards.

Fremont, 0-5, will square off with Tri-County next week. Grant and Newaygo will battle in their M-37 rivalry game next Friday night.
