The Adrian Lenawee Christian Cougars are the defending 8-man Division 1 State Champions, and they brought their perfect 21-0 all-time 8-man record to Friday night’s Regional Final against Britton Deerfield. In the regular season meeting in Week 9, Britton Deerfield held the lead early, but the loss of Nico Johnson to injury was too much to overcome in a 41-20 game. On Friday, the full-game absence of Nico was felt once again, as ALC cruised to a 41-0 shutout win.

Lenawee Christian scored twice in each of the first three quarters in this game. They outgained Britton Deerfield 326-80 in this contest, with 222 passing yards and 104 yards on the ground.

Ashur Bryja finished 10/14 passing for 222 yards and four touchdowns. He also added a team-high 53 rushing yards, with an 8-yard quarterback keeper going for a second quarter touchdown.

Clay Ayers had 13 rushing yards and 93 receiving yards, proving once again his versatility in this Cougars’ offense. Collin Davis finished with three touchdowns and 46 total yards on five touches. Elliott Addleman scored the other touchdown, a 9-yard catch in the second frame.

Tristan Johnson was 5/16 passing for the Patriots with 76 yards. He also led the team with 15 rushing yards on 18 carries. Mason Mueller caught four passes, registering all 76 passing yards for this team.

With this victory, Adrian Lenawee Christian will be hosting the semifinals next week. Just like last year, the Cougars will welcome the Martin Clippers to town. Martin defeated Mendon 41-22 on Friday evening. Last fall, it was 47-12 in favor of ALC.
