The Unity Christian Crusaders and Grand Rapids Christian Eagles played on Thursday night in a fast-moving game. The home team, Unity Christian entered with a victory under their belt and proved throughout the game that it was well deserved. The visiting Grand Rapids Christian Eagles struggled but managed to put some points on the board, however, their well-fought efforts just managed to fall short. Unity Christian left no room for error as they capitalized on both sides of the ball resulting in a 58-21 victory over the Eagles.

Within the first two minutes, Unity Christian quickly made moves rushing the ball to allow Abraham Rappuhn to score and for the team to complete a two-point conversion. Only a minute later, Grand Rapids Christian answered back with a 64-yard touchdown from Aviere Thomas followed by a successful field goal kick. Yet the  twins, Drew and Cameron Chandler proved to be powerhouses for the Unity Christian Crusaders as they both scored back-to-back touchdowns with one successful two-point conversion to put the Crusaders up 22-7. The second quarter began with a 30-yard touchdown from Ja’Martae Hogan but finished with two touchdowns from Unity Christian in response once again from Drew Chandler for 43 yards and Cameron Chandler for 3 yards to finish the half in front with a score of 44-14.

In the second half, the game slowed as Unity Christian continued to pull away as Cameron and Drew Chandler dominated the field. Drew Chandler scored two more touchdowns ending in a total of five individual touchdowns. Cameron Chandler completed every pass he threw for a total of 189 complete passing yards. The key players for Grand Rapids Christian were Aviere Thomas, Ja’Martae Hogan, CJ Jones and  as they each scored a touchdown and made key plays for the team to hang on, the running clock made it difficult as it ticked down due to the 37 point lead. Unity Christian coasted to a victory with a score of 58-21.

Next week the Crusaders will enter into their next match with an unbeaten record at Hamilton. Grand Rapids Christian will take on East Grand Rapids on their turf.
