The East Kentwood Falcons and Grand Haven Buccaneers met on Friday night with both schools looking for their first win of 2020. After a close first half, East Kentwood outscored Grand Haven 21-0 in the second half to win this one by thirty points, 42-12.

In the beginning of this game, Grand Haven struck first. Owen Worthington connected with Grant Ellis on a six yard touchdown to jump out to a 6-0 lead. This would last for just ninety seconds, as East Kentwood jumped out in front. Branden Miller paired up with Evan Milliken on a two-yard touchdown. The successful two-point conversion made it 8-6 Falcons. Before the first quarter ended, Cale Allaire booted a thirty-four yard field goal for East Kentwood to extend their lead to five points.

In the second quarter, Grand Haven regained the lead. Tanner Williams ran it in from ten yards out, and although the Bucs missed the PAT, they still held a 12-11 advantage. This was the last time that they would score in this game.

East Kentwood added ten points in the final three minutes of the first half to regain the lead. First, Allaire made his second straight field goal of the game, a thirty yard kick. With thirty-six seconds left, Jeffrey Perry ran it across the goal line from two yards out to give the Falcons a 21-12 halftime lead.

In the second half, East Kentwood scored three touchdowns to secure their victory. In the third quarter, Jaylen Smith took the football twenty eight yards into the end zone for a score. The Falcons had fourteen points in the fourth quarter on touchdown runs by Drapher Cribbs and Perry.

Fumbles haunted Grand Haven in this game, as they lost four of them. These thwarted scoring attempts that could have kept the Bucs in this game.

Next week, Grand Haven (0-3) will look for their first victory when they travel to Rockford. East Kentwood (1-2) will look to even their record when they host Jenison. Both of those games will be broadcast LIVE on Michigan Sports Radio next Friday night.
