Below is our weekly recap of the games that we covered this week, and a look at the schedule of every game in the area this week!

Caledonia (8-5)

The Caledonia Fighting Scots’ season has continued to set new milestones. They defeated Lowell to extend their winning streak to five games on Tuesday, when they went on the road and came home with a 73-45 victory. This set up a huge showdown on Friday night against OK Red leader Hudsonville. In that game, the Eagles got out to a big lead and that was able to carry them to a 63-45 win over the Scots. Regardless of that defeat, Caledonia has now matched its highest win total since 2016-17, the second year of the Phil Visser era. This week, Caledonia only has one game, a Tuesday road game against Rockford.

Central Montcalm (8-4)

The Central Montcalm Hornets took one of two games in this week’s action. On Tuesday, they visited Alma and fell 67-59. Both Asher Vissman and Gunner Hill led the way with 17 points. On Friday night, Newaygo came to town, and Central Montcalm took down the Lions in a 69-61 game. Hill was the leading scorer with 21 points, while Vissman had 20. The free-throw shooting of Central Montcalm was key in this game, as they were 24/31 from the charity stripe. A pair of road games face the Hornets this season, as they visit Lakeview on Tuesday and Fremont on Friday.

Forest Hills Central (10-3)

The Rangers split their two games this week. On Tuesday, they stepped out of conference play with a non-conference road trip to Wyoming. The Wolves, 12-1 on the year, won the rebound battle and had some key baskets by Menalito McGee. Although the Rangers outscored Wyoming 35-28 in the second half, they could not overcome the margin. They lost this one 61-56, despite 25 points from Jimmy Scholler. In a conference game at home against Greenville on Friday, FHC dominated from the opening tip. Behind 23 from Scholler and 28 from Mitch Wilkinson, FHC won 74-46. Eleven different Rangers scored in this game, and impressive feat. This week, the Rangers will host Cedar Springs on Tuesday before visiting Lowell on Friday.

Grand Rapids Catholic Central (12-2)

The Cougars had a pair of games this week, and they came away with one victory as well. In Friday’s rivalry game against West Catholic, it was a 73-49 victory. It was only a nine-point game entering the fourth quarter, but the Cougars outscored them 22-7 over the final eight minutes. Devon Boyd had 29 points, 8 rebounds, 6 rebounds and 6 steals to lead the way for the Cougars. Mykel Bingham added 17, while Jack Karasinski finished the 13. In Saturday night’s game against Benton Harbor, the second quarter doomed the Cougars, as they were outscored 23-10. This thirteen-point margin was the difference in the game, as the Tigers won 64-51. Benton Harbor was led by Carlos ‘Scooby’ Johnson, who had 28 games. Jack Karasinski led the Cougars with 14. This week, the Cougars travel to Allendale on Tuesday and Coopersville on Friday.

Rockford (5-9)

This week was a light week for Rockford basketball, as they had only played on Friday against Grandville. In that game, Rockford snapped a three-game losing streak. They took down the Bulldogs 49-39. The Rams will try and boost their record and gain some momentum when they host Caledonia on Tuesday before hosting Grand Haven on Friday.
