After falling last week to Swan Valley, Freeland looked to rebound in a Week 4 non-league bout against Flint Powers. The Falcons took advantage of this opportunity, cruising to a 48-7 win over the Chargers.
This game was lopsided from the start, with Freeland scoring 34 points in the first half. In the first quarter, the Falcons found the end zone just one. Parker Lentner ripped off a 51-yard sprint to paydirt, capping off an 85-yard touchdown march.
Ahead 6-0, Elijah Washabaugh took to the air, pairing up with Karson Worth for a 27-yard score. On the ensuing defensive possession, Kellen East scooped up a loose Powers fumble, racing 24 yards to put Freeland ahead by 20.
The Falcons offense took two more opportunities to score before halftime, with previous culprits returning to the plate. First, it was Lentner on a 45-yard dash to glory. Next, it was Washabaugh and Worth, again connecting for a 64-yard strike. A successful PAT kick gave Freeland a 34-0 lead as they entered the locker room.
After the break, Freeland kept rolling. Zander Wheatley provided the second defensive touchdown for the victors, as he stepped in front of a Chargers pass and raced 70 yards to the end zone. After Powers scored on a touchdown pass to Jayce Beauchamp, Freeland had one more score left in them in the final stanza.
Kellen East concluded the scoring action with a 15-yard touchdown run, giving him the opportunity to put points on the board on both sides of the action. Elijah Washabaugh was effective, finishing 6/10 for 158 yards and two scores. Parker Lantner added two touchdowns of his own, to go along with 120 yards on two carries. Kellen East had 109 rushing yards, while Zander Wheatley finished with two interceptions.
Freeland moves to 3-1 with this convincing victory. In wins, Freeland has outscored their opponents 143-7 this season. Next week, they will look to build on that margin as they face the Alma Panthers in TVC Red play. Flint Powers, now 0-4 on the season, will have another tough test in Week 5 against Frankenmuth.
