The Hart Pirates finished 2021 with a pair of victories. After Friday night’s win over Muskegon Heights, they have now captured wins in five of their past six games. It was another strong showing for Joe Tanis’ crew, a 36-14 victory.

Trenton Swinhart got Hart started with a 19-yard touchdown pass to Revin Gale. Muskegon Heights would respond with a pair of second quarter touchdowns. Anthony Floyd would capture an Octopus with his 4-yard touchdown run and two-point conversion catch. The Tigers took their 14-6 lead into the locker room, as G’Nari Davis found Dacarri Moore for a 37-yard touchdown strike.

The second half was all Hart. Trayce Tate scored late in the third quarter with a 7-yard carry. Swinhart evened the score with his conversion. With just six seconds in the frame, Tate snagged his own Octopus with a 5-yard carry and the conversion run.

In the fourth quarter, Hart would add one more score on Tate’s hat-trick touchdown run. Tate would finish this game with 11 carries, 77 yards and three touchdowns. Trenton Swinhart was efficient, completing 5/6 passes for 100 yards and two scores, while also rushing for 31 yards.

The Pirates are 3-1 for the first time since 2004. Next week, Hart (3-1) returns to WMC-Rivers action when they face North Muskegon. Muskegon Heights (0-4) will try to secure their first victory of the year against Riverview Gabriel Richard.
