The Lawton Blue Devils stepped out of SAC Valley play for a non-league bout with South Haven. Given their recent success (two straight playoff trips) and their enrollment (535), the Rams presented a great opportunity for Lawton to secure extra playoff points. They did just that, snagging a 42-16 victory.

Kal Motter got the Blue Devils rolling with two first quarter touchdowns. He reeled off a 30-yard run, and followed that up with a 9-yard carry. Early in the second quarter, he added a 2-yard touchdown run, giving Lawton a 21-0 lead.

Aiden O’Brien aired it out for the victors’ next two scores. He found Luke Leighton on a 23-yard pass, and followed that with a 2-yard toss to Parker Vanpetegham. Kal Motter’s 49-yard sprint to the end zone gave Lawton a 42-0 lead headed into halftime.

South Haven, with the running clock working against them, managed two fourth quarter touchdowns to close the final gap. Aiden O’Brien completed all nine passes for Lawton, racking up 144 yards. Kal Motter had just 8 carries, but finished with 128 yards.

Next week, Lawton (3-1) will return to SAC-Valley play to face Delton. South Haven (1-3) will start SAC-Lakeshore action against Allegan.
