Last fall, Northpointe Christian made their debut in 8-man football. They were a strong team at 7-2, and were selected to play in the “Division 0” State Championship game. In that match-up, they lost to Bridgman. At the beginning of last season, the Mustangs lost to Suttons Bay. The Norsemen are amongst the elite 8-man programs in the state. Over the past three years, Suttons Bay is 32-3, with all three losses coming in the Division 1 State Championship game. All of this to say, it was a big deal that the Mustangs took down Suttons Bay on Friday night. It was even more of a statement that Northpointe Christian won 65-19.
The Mustangs racked up 598 yards of total offense in their victory. DeAngelo Parsons led the way with a dominant showing. He turned just eight carries into 324 yards and seven touchdowns. Parsons added 60 yards passing, with another score.
Northpointe Christian will continue their challenging non-league slate next week, when they face Indian River Inland Lakes. The Bulldogs were 10-1 a season ago, and start their 2022 season on Friday against Onaway.
