The Patriots of Britton Deerfield began their 2022 campaign at home against Lakeside Danbury, a program based out of Ohio. A fast start saw BD race out to a 48-14 halftime lead. The Patriots followed that up with two second half touchdowns to capture a 50-point victory, 64-14, on opening night.

Britton Deerfield started the game with three straight touchdown drives. First, Logan Shiels found Tristan Johnson on a 43-yard touchdown strike. Nick Wayne added a two-point try. After recording a stop, the Patriots struck again. Logan Shiels used his legs on a 1-yard touchdown plunge, and completed the Octopus with a two-point try. Finally, after recording a turnover, Nick Wayne found the end zone on a 38-yard dart past the Danbury defense. A 76-yard deep ball by Danbury would break up the run, but it was 24-6 Britton Deerfield after the first quarter.

In the second frame, it was more Nick Wayne for the victors. He scored on two straight drives, carrying the ball across the goal line from 4 and 5 yards out. A pair of successful conversions brought the lead to thirty-four points. Danbury had another lengthy touchdown pass, this time a 51-yard strike.

Britton Deerfield would score one more touchdown in the first half on a Shiels run of 52 yards. Just moments later, they would get some defensive scoring as Nick Wayne sacked the Danbury quarterback for a safety. This brought the lead to 48-14 as they broke for halftime.

In the second half, Britton Deerfield reeled off a 26-yard touchdown run on a Tristan Johnson sprint through the opposition. Johnson would toss the ball to Asher Wiser for the conversion, and the running clock began. With the limited opportunities, the Patriots managed just one more score. Wiser found the end zone on a 28-yard run that was followed up by a two-point conversion from Carson Johnson.
