Below are the scores from Wednesday, Thursday and Friday across the MSR coverage area. With conference play in full swing, games are sorted by conference. Non-conference games are included in both leagues.

Covenant Christian 54 Tri-Unity 41: The Chargers held off the Defenders on Friday evening. Zach Gritters (17) and Evan Engelsma (15) paced the victors offensively.

Fruitport Calvary Christian 64 Zion Christian 36: The Eagles battled the Mountaineers throughout the first half, with FCC slugging out a 23-11 first half lead. They would build a lead as large as 30 in this victory. “This was a very intentionally physical team, and I think it bothered us for a little while, but I’m proud of the way our boys responded after halftime”, FCC Head Coach Brad Richards shared. Every FCC player scored in this win. Bradley Richards led the way with 16 points and 8 rebounds, while Jacob May added 16 points and 8 assists. Ethan Cammenga added 11 rebounds and 6 steals.

Big Rapids 65 Grant 52 (Wednesday)

Big Rapids 79 Tri-County 66: The Cardinals outlasted Tri-County on Friday evening in conference play. A 25-14 third quarter was vital to Big Rapids’ chances of victory. Dawson Dunn led BR with 25 points, while Jack Ruggles (17), Dylan Walsh (15) and Mason Dunn (13) were also in double figures. Ty Merlington led Tri-County with 29, while Adam Plotts chipped in 13.

CSAA SILVER

Holton 75 Hesperia 32: The Red Devils remain undefeated in CSAA Silver play, securing their third league win. Hesperia meanwhile, slides to 0-5 in the conference. It was 32-0 Hesperia after the first quarter, and 60-13 at halftime. “Hesperia is a very important game for us, both as our rival and as a league game”, Holton Head Coach Keith Swanson shared. “I thought tonight our guys came out focused and played a nice game”. Wyatt Monette paced Holton with 21 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 blocks and 4 steals. Kevin Erickson (16) and Bret Hosmer (14) were also in double figures, while Rice Robins secured 10 rebounds. Maddox Mosley led Hesperia with 18 points. The Panthers again had JV players suiting up, as they were without four varsity players. “Our JV guys battled once again tonight, and I continue to remind our guys that their time for success is coming, and to remember what it feels like in these setbacks”, Andrew Worcester, the Hesperia Head Coach shared. “I want them to use these moments in their young careers as motivation going forward.”

Kent City 65 White Cloud 35: The Eagles jumped out to a 14-4 first quarter lead, and after a 26-9 third quarter advantage, they cruised to a thirty-point win over the Indians. Kyler Larson had 32 games for the second straight game. Hayden Carlson added 17 points. “Our defense is getting better every game,” Kent City Coach David Ingles shared. “I love our effort on that end, and the offense is coming around too.”

Muskegon Heights 60 Holton 45 (Wednesday)

 

LAKES 8 CONFERENCE

Ludington 64 Muskegon Heights 61: The Orioles took down the Tigers in a great Lakes 8 basketball game. David Shillinger led Ludington with 19 points, while Peyton LaCombe (12), Aidan Gilchrist (10) and Matthew Westhouse (10) were also in double figures. Muskegon Heights was led by JaKari Edwards and William Davis, who each finished with 19.

Muskegon Heights 60 Holton 45 (Wednesday)

Orchard View 83 Manistee 36: Darius Williams recorded a quadruple-double in this road victory for the Cardinals. Williams had 50 points, 13 rebounds, 11 assists and 10 steals as OV sprinted past Manistee.

Western Michigan Christian 61 Muskegon Catholic Central 41: The Warriors took down the Crusaders in a Lakes 8 game on Friday. WMC got out to a 24-14 first quarter lead, and a 42-24 halftime advantage. MCC battled with a second half push, but it was not enough. Owen Varnado led all scorers with 33 points for the victors. Jaden Johnson posted another double-double performance with 18 points and 12 rebounds. The Crusaders added 11 points and 5 assists from Braden Gustin.

Holland Christian 59 Spring Lake 48: The Maroons held off Spring Lake in securing another league victory. Adam Kroeze paced the victors with 22 points. Jalen Overway added 19 points and 18 rebounds. Kyle Cannon was the third Maroon in double figures with exactly 10. Grady Schippers led Allendale with 15 points.

Unity Christian 75 Spring Lake 59: The ‘Saders took down the Lakers to improve to a perfect 10-0. Cam Chandler and Gabe Newhof each scored 19 points for UC. Spring Lake’s Kaden George led all scorers with 22 points, while Porter Saunders added 13.

Forest Hills Eastern 53 South Christian 52: The Hawks defeated the Sailors on a thrilling buzzer-beater by Caden Vandenberge (see video below).

Grand Rapids Catholic Central 76 Middleville 31: The Cougars improve to 10-1 with another dominant performance over the Trojans. Durral Brooks had 20 points, while Luka Ressler (13) and Kaden Brown (11) were also in double figures. Terrell Jefferson led TK with 19 points.

 

OK GREEN

Muskegon 74 Mona Shores 29: The Big Reds cruised past their crosstown rivals on Friday evening. Anthony Sydnor led Muskegon with 16 points on 5/7 shooting and a perfect 3/3 from beyond the arc. David Day added 15 points for the victors, while JaDen Walker tossed in 9. Keontae Richards (8) and Jordan Bledsoe (7) paced Mona Shores.

Reeths Puffer 57 Holland 50: The Rockets took down the Dutch in an OK Green battle on Friday. Jaxson Whitaker had a huge night with 31 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists for Puffer. Travis Ambrose added 8 points and 10 rebounds. Isaiah Arredondo (14), Zach Hop (13) and Jackson VanHekken (10) finished with double figures for Holland.

Wyoming 68 Zeeland East 55

Zeeland West 55 Union 40: The Dux hosted Union on Friday evening, and fell behind 11-2 in the first three minutes. Coach Klyn’s Dux held serve the remainder of the half, holding the Red Hawks to just 10 points the rest of the first half, allowing Zeeland West to enter the locker room ahead 24-21. ZW extended the lead to eight after the third quarter, and they ultimately extended the final margin. Kylan Arnold led the Dux with 15 points, while Merritt Alderink (13), Trevor Wallar (9) and Drew Weenum (8) added strong scoring performances.

West Ottawa 57 Caledonia 50: The Panthers defeated the Fighting Scots on the road on Friday. Brady Bosma led WO with 21 points, while Kobe Haglund added 20. Nick Fox led Caledonia with 20, while Mason McKenzie and Nick Henry each scored 10.

Northpointe Christian 64 Comstock Park 51: The Mustangs captured another league victory, this time over the Panthers. Brayden Wilkerson led NPC with 29 points. Comstock Park was paced by Ethan Gonzalez, who finished with 16.

Grand Rapids Christian 46 Forest Hills Central 44: The Eagles hit clutch free throws to hold off the Rangers in league play. Jaylan Ouwinga paced the victors with 12 points. Levi McKenzie (14) and Jonas VanderWoude (12) were in double figures for FHC.

Northview 91 Greenville 44: The Wildcats had little trouble against the ‘Jackets in OK White action. Kyler VanderJagt led Northview with 26 points and 10 assists. Jalen Charity added 25 points, as the Wildcats improve to 8-0 on the season.

Lawton 47 Coloma 38: The Blue Devils now sit at 5-1 in the SAC Valley with a Homecoming win over Coloma. Chase Mitchell paced the victors with 20 points, while Cooper Geib added 9.

WEST MICHIGAN CONFERENCE

North Muskegon 58 Mason County Central 56: The Norsemen and Spartans played a phenomenal basketball game on Friday evening. North Muskegon extended their lead to 11 points at halftime after a halfcourt shot from Quinn Kersman. MCC scored 20 points in the third quarter to pull within a point. The Spartans would secure a three-point advantage with 90 seconds to play, before some strong defense helped NM advance the game to overtime. A pair of key threes by Brandon Rypstra and Troy McManus helped the Norsemen take the lead, and they held off a pair of last-second shots. Sam Gallo led North Muskegon with 13 points, while Rypstra added 11. Will Chye hit five triples on his way to a 27 point game for the Spartans.

Oakridge 69 Hart 44: The Eagles got the best of the Pirates at home on Friday. Oakridge built an early 23-9 lead after the first quarter, and they continued to build on that mark throughout the remainder of the evening. Parker Hovey paced Hart with 15 points and 8 rebounds, while Caleb Bitely chipped in 10. Oakridge was led by Hunter DeLora with 22 points, while Garrett Wever (12) and Ethan Jozsa (11) were also in double figures.

Ravenna 52 Montague 46: The Bulldogs and Wildcats were tied at 25 at halftime, before Ravenna pulled out a victory with a close second half. Kyle Beebe led all scorers with 22 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for Ravenna. Grant Becklin chipped in 19 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals and a block, while Travis May finished with 6 points, 5 steals and 4 assists. Montague was led by Tate Stine (18) and Owen Raeth (10)

Shelby 55 Whitehall 54: The Tigers held off the Vikings in WMC action. Shelby led 21-14 at halftime, and despite a pair of victories by Whitehall in the final two quarters, they were unable to secure the victory. Shelby overcame an 0/8 three-point shooting night, and a 17/32 free throw shooting performance. Jack Houtteman (13), Camden Thompson (10) and Red Watson (10) were all in double figures for the Vikings.

Battle Creek Pennfield 73 Hastings 38

Benzie Central 84 Suttons Bay 48: The Huskies captured a convincing win with five players in double figures. Quinn Zickert scored 21 points, while Nate Childers (15), Jaxon Childers (13), Miles Pritchett (12) and Michael Wooten (11) were also above the ten-point threshhold.

Edwardsburg 47 Niles 31: The Eddies took down the Vikings on Friday evening, securing another victory on their tally. Niles led 8-4 after the first quarter, and 19-14 at halftime, before Edwardsburg put together a strong second half. Jacob Pegura (13) and Luke Stowasser (11) were in double figures for Edwardsburg. Dimetrius Butler (11) was the lone player for Niles in double digits.
