The Ravenna Bulldogs welcomed West Michigan Conference rival North Muskegon to town for a Division 7 playoff showdown. This was a rematch of a Week 7 game that saw Ravenna pull off a 17-6 victory. On Friday night, it was much closer, but the end result was the same. The Bulldogs emerged victorious, 7-6.
On the opening possession of the game, Ravenna found the end zone. Thomas McCullough reeled off a big run, covering 48 yards on his way to the end zone. Hunter Hogan booted an extra point that gave the Bulldogs a 7-0 advantage just eighty seconds into the contest.
Offense was at a premium in this game, as there were just 125 yards of combined offense. North Muskegon actually won the yardage battle 77-48. Outside of McCullough’s 48-yard rushing touchdown, the Bulldogs accumulated zero yards of offense.
North Muskegon finally responded with 1:04 to go, as Ben Meyers connected with Nick Dana on a 6-yard touchdown. Coach Larry Witham decided to go for two and the win, dialing up a pass play. Attempting to complete the game-winning Octopus, Meyers aired it out toward Dana, but the pass fell incomplete.
Ravenna advances to the Division 7 District Finals, where they will face Muskegon Catholic Central. The Crusaders advanced by dominating Delton Kellogg 54-6.
