The Lawton Blue Devils have been one of the highest-powered offenses in the state of Michigan this fall. On Friday, they took on the Homer Trojans in their Division 7 playoff opener. It was cruise control for Lawton once again, as they won their eighth contest by at least 45 points, capturing a 52-6 victory.

Jake Rueff continued his phenomenal season with an explosive first quarter. He found the end zone on all four Lawton drives on Friday night. He rushed for touchdowns of 20, 30, 37 and 43 yards to help propel the Blue Devils to a 28-0 lead.

In the second quarter, Lawton continued to score. Landon Motter found Chase Mitchell on an explosive 85-yard passing play. The lead went to 42 points, as Motter used his legs for a touchdown run of 7 yards. This gave the Blue Devils a 42-0 halftime lead.

There was a running clock in the second half, limiting possessions for both schools. Jake Rueff added his fifth touchdown, capping off a day that saw him finish with 11 carries, 226 yards and five touchdowns. Ethan O’Donnel added a 46-yard field goal for Lawton.

With this win, the Blue Devils captured a playoff victory for the third straight season. They will look for their first-ever District Championship this week, as they take on Union City. The Chargers are 6-4, and they opened the playoffs with a win over Niles Brandywine.
