On Friday night, the second half of the MHSAA football season began! Conference title races are starting to take form, playoff positioning is well underway, and our team at MSR has it all! Below, you will find all of the scores and links to our recap articles.

East Kentwood 42 Caledonia 6: The Falcons had little resistance from their neighboring rivals on Friday. Kayd Coffman was 11/18 passing for 172 yards and three touchdowns, finding Owen Van Der Veen twice for scores. East Kentwood outgained Caledonia 398-194 in this victory, limiting Caledonia to 2/12 on third down conversions.

Rockford 28 Grandville 0: Another statement win for the Rams on the road Friday. Casen Whitford started things off with a quarterback keeper, a 22-yard score. Luke Ahern found the end zone twice, and Ryan Kerry added a running score. Grandville was shutout for the first time since 2017 in this defeat.

Grand Rapids Catholic Central 10 Middleville 0: The Cougars fail to score an offensive touchdown but remain unbeaten. Read about how they got it done on Friday!
East Grand Rapids 10 Northview 3: Northview’s 13-game regular season win streak comes to an end, as they fall to EGR in a close defensive struggle.
Holland Christian 55 Ottawa Hills 0: The Maroons pitch their first shutout since their 2022 opener, easily defeating Ottawa Hills. Grif Leuuw was 7/9 passing for 105 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing for another score. Zaye Myaard added 139 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries. Simon Grotenhuis had six catches for 91 yards and a touchdown. The HC defense forced three turnovers, while Charlie VanVliet made all seven extra points and never had to punt.

Byron Center 42 Mona Shores 35: Byron Center pulls out a huge victory, needing the overtime period to advance. Cam Payne had a huge night for the Bulldogs, rushing for 215 yards and five touchdowns, including the tying score and winning score in overtime. Joe Thole was efficient in defeat, completing 13/17 passes for 173 yards and two scores, while Dom Peggue rushed for 132 yards on 13 carries.
Muskegon 40 Forest Hills Northern 21: The Big Reds improve to 3-2 by outlasting FHN. Lamar Bradford was only 4/5 passing, but two of those tosses went for touchdowns to Dede Rainey-Brown. Bradford also added 60 rushing yards and a score with his legs. Keshawn Drummer added 204 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries for Muskegon. In defeat, Owen Ostipow threw for 73 yards and rushed for 119, accounting for all three touchdowns. His passing score was a 73-yard strike to Dane Briggs.

Zeeland West 38 Zeeland East 14: The Dux best the Chix for the 10th straight time, picking up a key league win. Read about the big night from Brandon Holman here!
South Christian 54 Wyoming 0: The Sailors pitched their biggest shutout since 2020. Check out the recap article here!
Unity Christian 52 Forest Hills Central 16: The ‘Saders improve to 5-0 by dominating the Rangers. In defeat, Nick Williams completed 17/24 passes for 230 yards, accounting for two touchdowns. Miles Pell led FHC receivers with 10 catches for 130 yards.
OK WHITE
Grand Rapids Christian 44 Forest Hills Eastern 20: The Eagles nearly doubled up the Hawks in total yardage and points on the scoreboard in this OK White contest. GR led 23-7 early, and 37-10 after three quarters. Charlie King was 11/15 passing for 157 yards, and he added 32 rushing yards. Elden Grover had 15 carries for 113 yards and three touchdowns for the victors.
West Catholic 21 Spring Lake 14
Wayland 28 Hamilton 12: The Wildcats pick up a key victory, taking down Hamilton. Wayland rushed for 214 yards on 39 carries as a team, and they were actually outgained by Hamilton 358-233. Easton Williams provided the latest Wildcats’ defensive score, returning an interception 55 yards for a touchdown. Caleb Ellis scored twice for the victors, while Brooks Hawkins found the end zone two times for Hamilton.

Big Rapids 40 Reed City 13: The Cardinals deliver a statement victory, besting Reed City by scoring the first 26 points in this game. Cole Haist finished 10/19 passing for 212 yards and a score, while adding two rushing touchdowns. Big Rapids averaged 7.1 yards per carry on 34 carries, with Kurt Wilber scoring two touchdowns and Jack Bollman scoring the fifth on the ground.

Elkton-Pigeon-Bay Port Laker 13 Central Montcalm 0: The Hornets suffer their first loss of the year in a non-league game against one of the state’s top D8 teams. A pair of scores in the first and third quarter proved to be too much for Central Montcalm to overcome.

Ludington 49 Montague 0: The Orioles remain unbeaten by posting a shutout against Montague. Cam Gunsell was 16/20 passing for 330 yards and 3 touchdowns, while also adding 15 carries for 66 yards and three rushing touchdowns. On defense, Gunsell secured an interception and seven tackles. Messiah Himes returned an interception for a touchdown, one of four turnovers forced by Ludington.
Oakridge 41 Fremont 16: The Eagles scored the first 41 points in this WMC rout. Jayden Dailey returned the opening kickoff 89 yards for a score, later added a 4-yard touchdown carry, while Jordan Guerrero-McGrady scored twice. Oakridge rushed for 200 yards as a team.
Orchard View 39 Muskegon Catholic Central 7: The Cardinals turned 24 carries into 351 yards (14.6 YPC) and six touchdowns in this game. Ca’mari Reese had 8 carries for 190 yards and four scores. In defeat, both Bode Zygmuntowski and Timmy Railling finished with 100+ yards on the ground.

Marcellus 64 Muskegon Heights 12: The Wildcats snapped a three-game skid by taking it out on the Tigers. Marcellus raced out to a 22-0 lead, and after taking a 46-6 lead into the locker room, the running clock kicked in during the second half. In defeat, a highlight for Muskegon Heights was Tayshaun Moody returning a kickoff 82 yards for a touchdown.

Concord 70 Morenci 20: It was a successful homecoming for Concord, as they cruised to victory. They led 44-0 before Morenci finally found the end zone. Gavin Riske was 7/8 passing for 228 yards and three scores, while adding 77 rushing yards and another touchdown on the ground. Trenton Frazer finished with 112 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns, and he also caught an 83-yard touchdown pass.

Mendon 50 Colon 7: It was 7-6 Colon with 9:11 left in the second quarter, before the Mendon Hornets took flight. Owen Gorham scored four touchdowns in this game, finishing with 244 rushing yards on 16 carries. Mendon forced four turnovers, included Brayden Crites blocking a punt for a touchdown.
