The Morley-Stanwood Mohawks and Holton Red Devils squared off Friday in CSAA-Silver action. In a tale of two halves, the Mohawks’ strong second half carried them to their fourth straight victory, and sole possession of second place in the final CSAA-Silver standings. They won this contest 32-24.

A strong first half by the Red Devils saw them take an 18-16 lead into the half. Morley-Stanwood would respond with sixteen unanswered points to take a 32-18 lead deep into the fourth quarter.

Holton scored their fourth touchdown with about three minutes to play, inching closer to the Mohawks at 32-24. They once again failed to convert the extra point. Morley-Stanwood got the football back, and they were able to run out the remainder of the clock, sealing the victory.

On the Holton side, Austin Fowler had a strong passing game with 191 yards and three touchdowns on 12/19 passing. He also added seven carries for twenty-six yards and one score. Austin Hawkins caught five of Fowler’s passes and turned them into 133 yards and two touchdowns. On defense, Hawkins led the way with ten tackles.

Next week, Morley-Stanwood will take on Beal City in a non-league tune-up for the playoffs. Holton will take on Muskegon Catholic Central in preparation for the postseason.
