Through two weeks of the season, the Dux of Zeeland West have looked every part of a team that could make a deep playoff run this season. Through the first two games the Dux have outscored opponents 92-15 by dominating on both sides of the ball. They wouldn’t change against the Wyoming Wolves.
Rolando Robelin got West going as he punched in the first score of the game from 8-yards away to put the Dux up 6-0. The rest of the quarter the Dux defense would shut down the Wolves offense. On the offensive side for West, it became a bit of the Parker Hollman show. The all-state back would bust off a 35-yard run to find the endzone for the first time on the night. This gave the Dux a 14-0 advantage after a successful two-point attempt. Deep in the quarter Hollman would break out again finding nothing but daylight on a 51-yard touchdown run. It would be all Hollman and the Dux after one, 22-0.
That wouldn’t be the end of the Hollman show. Again, the senior back would find the endzone for the third time in the half. From 55-yards away, West found themselves with a stronghold on the game, 30-0. Don’t forget Rolando Robelin. Robelin would punch in another of his own on a 17-yard run. It would be all Dux at the half, 38-0.
West would not take the foot off the gas in the third. This time the younger Hollman, Brandon Hollman would get in on the fun. The Freshman would find some space of his own on a 63-yard run. The Dux would hold a 46-0 lead early in the half. The youngster wouldn’t be finished, however. This time he would score on a 2-yard run. Headed into the final quarter the Dux found themsleves with a 54-0 lead.
Wyoming would finish this one strong. The Wolves finally put together a scoring drive of their own when Sophomore Antwan Brown Jr. scored from 2-yards away. It would be a nice way to end the night for Wyoming but this one ended with West dominating from start to finish. The Dux go on to take down the Wolves, 54-8.
Parker Hollman was big on the night to lead the West offense with 189 yards and 3 touchdowns. Rolando Robelin carried the ball just 5 times but would finish with 92 yards and 2 touchdowns. Brandon Hollman added 79 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Zeeland West offense has now scored on 14 of 15 possessions on the season with just 1 punt. It’s an offense that has everything clicking at the moment and the defense is helping them out.
Wyoming will fall to 0-3 on the young season. Things will not get easier for them when they take on a Zeeland East team whose own offense is rolling at the moment. Those two will square off next Friday at Zeeland East High School.
This is a Zeeland West team who couldn’t have more momentum right now. The Dux have dominated their first three games of the season. They’ll keep firing away when they take on Grand Rapids Union next week. After their opening week win, the Red Hawks have been outscored 48-126 the past two weeks. The Dux will look to see if they can makes things worse on them when they head over to Houseman Field next Friday night.
