What a start it has been for the red hot Tri-County Vikings. After a dominant week one win, the Vikings followed it up with a gutsy win over conference power Reed City. The expectation continues to rise for the Tri-County program and they would show that again in their week three performance.

Things started early for the Vikings on the night as they got on the board after a 52-yard touchdown pass. A good two-point attempt would put Tri-County up 8-0 early. Just a few minutes later the running game would get going off a 90-yard burst to give the Vikings a 14-0 lead. Still just the opening quarter, right back would come Tri-County. This time on another touchdown connection. It would be all Vikings after one, 22-0.

It would be about midway through the second quarter before Tri-County struck again. This time a 15-yard touchdown run would give the Vikings a 30-0 advantage. They wouldn’t be done for the half. A 28-yard touchdown pass would have the Tigers reeling as the Viking held a 38-0 lead at the half.

Both defenses would settle things down to begin the half as neither team would put points on the board in the third. Grant would finally find themselves reaching the endzone midway through the fourth as 5-yard touchdown run would make it a 8-38 ball game. Tri-County bounced back after as another touchdown run, this time from 32-yards away would build the lead back to 46-8. The Tigers would do a good job of not letting the score effect them as they bounced right back with a 70-yard kickoff return touchdown. Grant builds some confidence in this one winding down but it would still be all Vikings on the night. Tri-County goes on to take a 46-16 win over the Tigers.

Grant has had a tough couple weeks after their opening week win. The Tigers fall to 1-2 in games that haven’t been particularly close. They will look to get back on track when they take on a Fremont team who is coming off a tough loss of their own. Grant heads over to Fremont next Friday night.

It’s a Vikings team that couldn’t be playing better football right now. Tri-County starts the season at 3-0 for the second year in a row. They look to keep rolling when they take on a Newaygo team that is coming off their best performance of the season in their win over Morley Stanwood. The Vikings have taken the last three meetings with the Lions.
