From the start of this CSAA crossover,  it was Central Montcalm only. The Hornets secured the week one victory over Morley-Stanwood, 38-0.

The scoring started with a 6-yard run by Isaac Johnson that was punched in for six halfway through the first quarter. The PAT was converted by Hayden Train. With just a minute remaining in the 1st quarter, Joey Morrow was able to reach the end zone on a 10-yard run. At the end of the 1st quarter Hornets held a 13-0 lead.

In the 2nd quarter, freshman quarterback Emmett Lingeman, got his first high school touchdown with an 8-yard run. Just before the two-minute mark, Hayden Train was able to find the end zone on a 5-yard run. The PAT was no good, but Central Montcalm held the 25-0 lead heading to the break.

The Hornets had all the energy coming out of the break, leading to a Thomas Ockert interception two minutes after halftime. With seven minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter, Joey Morrow broke loose for a 44-yard house call, giving him his second touchdown on the game. The PAT was not able to split the up rights, but after three quarters the Hornets led Morley-Stanwood 31-0.

Heading to the final minutes of the game the score still sat at 31-0, until Laine Nielson decided to jump the passing lane and have a reservation for six, taking a 40-yard interception to the house. The Mohawks were unable to put any on the board in their season opening defeat.

Central Montcalm will travel to Kent City next week, while Morley Stanwood will visit Carson City-Crystal.
