The Mona Shores Sailors and Reeths-Puffer Rockets played a thriller on Friday night. Defense was the name of this game, and the Sailors were the winner. In the end, Mona Shores secured a 15-0 victory.
It was nearly a scoreless first half in this game. With mere seconds remaining in the first half, the Sailors got on the scoreboard. Kaden Pulaski converted on a 26-yard field goal to push Mona Shores ahead 3-0 at halftime.
The defense and special teams continued to provide for Mona Shores. Octavio Alvarado recorded a blocked punt, and scooped up the loose football. That 40-yard run extended the Moa Shores edge.
In the fourth quarter, Puffer made a deep drive into Muskegon territory. Once again, Mona Shores’ defense built a wall. They would add an insurance touchdown run by Dahmir Farnum.
Next week, Mona Shores will take their 7-1 on the road for an epic showdown with Muskegon. Puffer, now 5-3, has a strong feeling about the playoffs. They will try and lock that in with a win against Lansing Everett. The Vikings are 2-6 on the season, and are the replacement game for Holland in Week 9.
