The Tri-River season continued along on Friday, as Northpointe Christian clashed with Maple Valley. A strong surge by the Mustangs at the beginning of this game powered them to a 53-6 victory.

Caden Trathen got the Mustangs started with a 1-yard touchdown run. DeAngelo Person added a 4-yard rushing score to give the Mustangs a 14-0 lead after the first quarter. Northpointe Christian saw Person secure two additional touchdown runs in the second quarter. His 20-yard and 36-yard carries gave the Mustangs a 30-0 halftime edge.

The Northpointe Christian offense continued to succeed, with a 4-yard keeper by Person. Now ahead 38-0, the running clock sped this game ahead into the fourth quarter.

Ayden Wilkes broke the drought for Maple Valley. His 64-yard toss to Cam Carpenter got the Lions on the board in the opening minute of the fourth quarter. Northpointe would add two more scores to their final tally. First, Person found Zac Sarver on 36-yard touchdown toss. The final points came on an interception return by Eric Braam.

NPC outgained Maple Valley 464-103. DeAngelo Person spearheaded the Mustangs’ offense with 298 rushing yards on 30 carries.

Next week, the Mustangs (5-0) will take on New Buffalo in a non-league game. Maple Valley (1-4) will look to bounce back in their game with Morenci.
