The Gobles Tigers took on Fennville in a SWMFL showdown on Friday night. The Tigers brought their signature physicality to the field, and they controlled the flow of the contest with a strong ground game. In the end, they were able to put together a 58-14 victory over Fennville.

Fennville played without star quarterback Ben Peterson, who is battling an injury. Max Machado filled in as signal-caller, and he completed 10/20 passes for 123 yards. He also rushed for a touchdown. Nathan Griffin led Fennville’s receivers with 73 yards on 5 catches. Griffin added five tackles and a forced fumble. Quinn Rosema had a team-high 12 catches for Fennville. Aidan Swingle added 8 tackles and a kickoff return touchdown.

Gobles was led by Mason Mansfield, who had 145 rushing yards, two touchdowns, 10 tackles and a sack. Eli DeYoung matched him with 145 rushing yards and two scores of his own. DeYoung also passed for a touchdown, finding Tristan Harbaugh for a score. Harbaugh also chipped in 2.5 sacks. Xavier Wilkes had 10 tackles, 1.5 sacks and an interception for the victors.

Gobles (3-1) will take on Mendon in a big matchup for both clubs. Fennville (2-2) will look to rebound against Bangor.
