Newaygo picked up their first win in the Scott Force era on Friday night, with their 20-0 victory over Morley-Stanwood.

As the first quarter started to wind down, Grant Harkness connected with Remy Wells on a 69-yard touchdown, giving the Lions their first points of the season. The PAT by Josiah Long was good, and after one the Lions led 7-0.

In the second quarter, we saw more Remy Wells for Newaygo. He received the jet sweep and got around the edge to reach the endzone once again. Long connected on another PAT, and going into the half Newaygo led the Mohawks, 14-0.

The third quarter was quiet for both teams, but as the fourth quarter rolled around the Newaygo defense stepped up. With nine minutes left in the game, Dyllan Bazzett incepted the pass from Morley-Stanwood and took it the distance for a 30-yard pick six. Newaygo takes down Morley-Stanwood 20-0.

The Lions move to 1-2 on the season, and will face Tri-County on the road next week. Morley-Stanwood falls to 0-3 and will host Lakeview in Week 4.
