With the second week behind us, we will now turn to conference play for week three. The OK Blue teams will finally face one another for another exciting set of football games.

Coopersville v Hudsonville Unity Christian

The Coopersville Broncos are set to face Unity Christian in their conference opener. A year ago, when these teams faced off, Unity Christian was undefeated and dominating every team they played. The Crusaders are entering this season’s match-up 0-2, while the Broncos are undefeated. Coopersville was a surprise team last year, and look to be on the rise once again. Unity Christian seems to be in more of a rebuilding phase after losing 20 seniors during the offseason.

Allendale v Fruitport

In week two, Allendale and Fruitport both lost their final non-conference game of the season. The Falcons and the Trojans enter this week’s contest 1-1, and with a chip on their shoulder from the previous games. Fruitport looked to be running away with the game against Grand Rapids Christian, however, the Eagles scored 34 unanswered points winning the game in the last seconds of the game. Allendale, meanwhile, suffered a frustrating loss to rival Hopkins.

Hamilton v Holland Christian

The Hawkeyes and the Maroons are set to square off for their conference opener. They are both coming off of 1-6 seasons last year in conference play. The only win for Holland Christian came against Hamilton a year ago. The Hawkeyes are currently 2-0, while the Maroons are 1-1. Both offenses struggled to find the end zone all last year, however it seems that Hamilton has improved after having two very high scoring games with 102 points.

Grand Rapids West Catholic v Spring Lake

West Catholic will take its undefeated record on the road in Week 3 to face Spring Lake. The Falcons are led by Tim Kloska, who has already scored 5 touchdowns in the 2022 season. West Catholic is coming off a big win 43-0 against Ferndale last week. The Lakers defeated Zeeland East last week in a close battle 21-14.  Last year, the Falcons dominated early when they took on Spring Lake, before holding on in a 41-28 victory.
