The Greenville Yellow Jackets entered this Thursday with a 19-game losing streak. Their last victory came on September 27. 2019. As the calendar flipped to September, Greenville was able to end their drought. They shut out Kenowa Hills in the second half on their way to a 25-12 victory.

In the first quarter, the Greenville special teams brought the heat and got them on the scoreboard. Isaac Daley blocked the Knights’ punt, and it was recovered for a touchdown. Just ninety seconds into the game, the ‘Jackets led 6-0. Near the end of the quarter, Kenowa Hills mounted their first scoring drive. Andrew Bradley kept the football and ran seven yards in for the score. A failed conversion left the opening frame with a 6-6 deadlock.

Bradley’s second touchdown, a five-yard scamper, put Kenowa ahead in the second quarter. Their advantage would hold until the final minute of the half. Noah Long aired the football out, and the ‘Jackets gunslinger found Isaac Dailey for a 54-yard touchdown strike. A missed extra point would bring the game to a 12-12 tie as the teams broke for halftime.

The second half saw Greenville score a pair of touchdowns to emerge with a victory. Kameron Cooper started things off with a 1-yard touchdown plunge. With two minutes to go, he sealed the victory with a 14-yard touchdown jaunt.

Kenowa Hills outgained Greenville 250-224 in defeat. Andrew Bradley finished 11/19 passing for the Knights, tallying up just 79 yards. Mason Viveros added 51 yards as their leading rusher. Greenville was paced by Noah Long (2/5, 57 yards), Kameron Cooper (7 carries, 150 yards) and Isaac Daley (1 catch, 54 yards).

Next week, the 1-1 ‘Jackets will start OK White play against Lowell. Kenowa Hills, now 0-2 on the season, begins OK Gold action against Forest Hills Eastern.
