The Loy Norrix Knights began their 2022 campaign on Thursday night. Their season opened with a trip to Delton, where they faced the Panthers. It was a strong offensive performance for Norrix, but they were unable to slow down Delton’s attack. In the end, Delton sent Loy Norrix packing with a 42-24 defeat.
James Rocco, the quarterback for the Knights, finished with 186 yards through the air. He added 54 rushing yards, and had two total touchdowns.
Cedric Huntley was the leading receiver for Loy Norrix with 166 of Rocco’s yards. Huntley had five catches, one resulting in a touchdown.
Carlton Freeman led Loy Norrix defensively with 8 tackles from the linebacker position.
Next week, Loy Norrix will look to snap their 17-game skid. They will be hosting crosstown rival Kalamazoo Central on September 1. The Maroon Giants begin their season on Friday August 26 on the road against Mount Pleasant. That game will be covered on Michigan Sports Radio with Josh Longstreth reporting on-site from Mount Pleasant.
