The Oakland Christian Lancers and Concord Yellow Jackets battled to an offensive shootout on Friday evening. In the end, Oakland Christian was able to outlast Concord, capturing a 40-30 victory.
Jordan Johnson got the Lancers off to a hot start. He tossed a 16-yard touchdown in the first quarter, and followed that up with a 43-yard pass in the second quarter that allowed Oakland Christian to jump ahead 14-0.
Concord responded with a 20-yard keeper by Mark File and a conversion run by Logan Lamb. Oakland Christian wasted no time, fielding the ensuing kickoff and racing 62 yards for a touchdown. Before the half was up, Concord got back within four points as Mark File paired up with Mekhi Wingfield on a 31-yard touchdown ross. File used his legs for a conversion to trim the halftime deficit to four, 20-16.
In the third quarter, the ‘Jackets took the lead. File found Anthony Evans on a 42-yard strike, giving Concord a two-point edge. Later in the frame, they added eight points to their tally. Mark File found Omarion Culliver on a 15-yard score, giving the ‘Jackets a 30-20 advantage.
Oakland Christian would finish this game with the final twenty points, capturing a victory.
Mark File finished 11/24 passing for 152 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions. Logan Lamb paced the rushing attack with 83 yards, while Mekhi Wingfield had 75 receiving yards on eight catches.
Jordan Johnson was 17/33 for 201 yards and four touchdowns. Joe Shelata hauled in all four touchdowns, as he finished with 13 receptions and 178 yards. The Lancers’ signal-caller is now up to 18 passing scores on the year.
Concord finishes the year with a 4-5 record, while Oakland Christian concludes their year at 3-6.
