The St Louis Sharks entered Week 9 with a 28.375 playoff point average, holding onto the 32nd playoff spot in Division 7. They were taking on Breckenridge in their regular season finale, hoping to record a victory and solidify a playoff spot. Unfortunately for the Sharks, they fell to Breckenridge 46-14.
Luke Saunders was a problem for St Louis in this game. The Breckenridge senior quarterback was involved in six of the seven Huskies touchdown. Saunders was 17/22 passing, racking up 250 yards and four scores. He also added 157 rushing yards, with two touchdowns on the ground.
Jace Horman had two receiving touchdowns, while Collin Sitts and Ryan Wolfgang each hauled in a touchdown. Cramer Laurenz rushed for the final Huskies’ touchdown.
St Louis scored once in each half. In the second quarter, Reece Giles found Ben Dousuah on a 13-yard touchdown pass. In the fourth quarter, Giles found Michael Baysah on a 69-yard touchdown strike.
Reece Giles was 7/15 passing for 132 yards and two scores. Ignatius Jackson had 22 carries for 80 yards. Michael Baysah paced the receivers with his sole catch for 69 yards.
Breckenridge is in the postseason with their 7-2 record. St Louis, meanwhile, anxiously awaits the results of games around the state to trickle in. The Sharks are 5-4, and they hope to have enough points to garner a playoff berth. The complete playoff field will be announced Sunday evening.
