The Muskegon Big Reds took on the Reeths Puffer Rockets in an OK Green showdown on Friday. As has been the case in 22 of 23 all-time meetings with a decision (not counting a tie in 1997), Muskegon left the gridiron with a victory. This time, it was 47-21 in their favor.

Muskegon struck first in this game, as Destin Piggee ripped off a 66-yard touchdown run. It was the only scoring play in the first quarter. Puffer would respond in the second frame on a 3-yard quarterback keeper by Ben Veihl.

Midway through the second frame, the Big Reds regained the lead. Myles Walton found Jeremiah Dault on a slant pass that went 20 yards for a touchdown. Jakob Price added a 12-yard rushing score to give the Big Reds a 21-7 halftime lead.

Brady Ross got Puffer back within a touchdown with a 1-yard plunge with 2:54 left in the third quarter. Muskegon would quickly respond, as Walton and Dault connected on a deep ball that went for an 80-yard touchdown. A missed extra point left the lead at 27-14 Big Reds with a quarter to play.

Myles Walton used his legs near the midpoint of the fourth quarter to extend the lead to 20 points. He carried the football four yards for a score. The Big Reds would get their next touchdown on defense, as Tamareon Oakes pried the football free. Ty Irby scooped up the loose ball, racing across the goal line.

Muskegon would add another insurance touchdown on a 38-yard run by Jakob Price. Puffer would finish the night with another score by Brady Ross, but the game was already settled.

Muskegon improves to 7-1 with the victory over the Rockets. They will take on Zeeland East in their regular season finale. Reeths-Puffer is now 3-5 on the year. They will face Union in Week 9.
