The Chippewa Hills Warriors welcomed the Newaygo Lions into town on Friday evening. Newaygo, just 1-6 on the year, battled the winless Warriors. Logan Davis’ big day was more than enough, as he scored four times in a 24-7 victory.

Neither team scored in the first quarter of play. In the final two minutes of the opening half, there were three scoring plays. First, Logan Davis kept the football on a 6-yard run. Just forty seconds later, the dynamic duo of Grant Harkness and Remy Wells connected on a 52-yard deep ball. This brought the Lions within a point. Davis answered with a 6-yard run with fourteen seconds to go until halftime, extending the Warriors’ lead to five.

The second half saw just two successful scoring opportunities for Chippewa Hills. Logan Davis kept the football on both touchdowns, rushing for 32-yard and 4-yard touchdown runs.

Chippewa Hills is now 1-7 on the season. They are searching for a Week 9 opponent after LeRoy Pine River cancelled their remainder of the 2020 season. Newaygo, also 1-7, will face Holton next Friday.
