The Fennville Blackhawks hosted Gobles for their Homecoming game on Friday night. After three tough games to start the year, they gave the fans something exciting to celebrate with a 46-16 win over the Tigers.
It was a hot start for the Blackhawks, as they scored the first 30 points of the game, all in the first quarter. The second quarter continued with another sixteen points, though they yielded a touchdown to Gobles. The Tigers’ scored the final touchdown in the third quarter of play.
Ben Peterson was an effective passer. He completed 3/8 passes for 103 yards and three touchdowns. He also added 40 rushing yards on two carries. Corey Callejas hauled in one of those scores, a 71-yard strike. He also added six tackles and an interception.
Tyler Schut had an all-around dominant performance. He two touchdown catches, tallying 32 yards. Schut made his impact felt on defense as well, where he had five tackles, 3 TFLs, and one interception returned for a score. He capped off his day with a 43-yard punt return touchdown.
Quinn Rosema scored the final touchdown with a 5-carry, 44-yard rushing night. He and Makai Weimer each had five tackles in the victory.
Fennville, now 1-3, will take on Marcellus next week. Gobles will step out of SWMFL-I play to take on Lawrence.
