The Holton Red Devils and first-year Head Coach Alex Smith were able to get their first win of 2021, taking down the Coleman Comets on Thursday, 28-14.

In the first quarter, Holton quarterback Austin Fowler connected with a pair of receivers for touchdowns. He found Bret Hosmer and Rice Robins, allowing the Red Devils to jump ahead 12-8 after twelve minutes.

In the second quarter, Fowler added to his total. The signal caller used his legs, keeping the football for a 3-yard run that capped off a 11-play, 58-yard touchdown march. Holton took a 20-8 halftime lead as a result.

After a scoreless third quarter, the Red Devils got back in the scoring column, pushing their lead to three scores. Coleman would score again, but a late interception by Rice Robins sealed the victory for Holton.

Coleman was led in defeat by Ty Klopf with 141 passing yards. Ayden Ruhle led the Comets with 12 tackles.

Next week, Holton will travel to Morley-Stanwood for a CSAA-Silver game against the Mohawks. Coleman is currently without a Week 3 opponent.
