The Byron Center Bulldogs clinched at least a share of the OK White title with their victory over Greenville. Their offense exploded for 64 points, their largest output since October 24, 2014.

Byron Center scored all thirteen points in the first quarter to build a solid lead. Sawyer Wychers took to the air for the Bulldogs’ first score, as he found Mason Breit for a sixty-eight touchdown. On their next drive, Jason Sevigny ran forty-six yards through the ‘Jackets defense for a touchdown.

Mason Breit ballooned Byron Center’s lead with a pair of explosive touchdown runs in the opening minutes of the second quarter. His first run was fifty-two yards, and he followed that up with a seventy-two yard sprint to the end zone. A Keegan Emmons field goal of twenty-six yards made it 29-0 Bulldogs with 5:40 to go in the first half.

Greenville would respond with a score, as Grant Thwaites kept the football and ran it in from a yard out. Paired together with a two-point run by Aiden Dowdell, the score moved to 29-8.

Byron Center would respond with a touchdown run by Logan Mackenzie from three yards out. Before the half came to an end, Thwaites found Caleb McCarty for a thirty-four yard touchdown to make it 36-14 Bulldogs as the teams went to halftime.

In the second half, Byron Center continued to roll. They scored three times in the third quarter, all on the ground. Mackenzie scored for the second time on a twenty yard run, while Owen Holverstott scored a pair of touchdowns (20 and 23 yards). Thwaites scored his third touchdown of the game, as he kept the football and ran sixty-five yards for the score.

In the fourth quarter, with the running clock in effect, Colson Conrad rushed for an eleven yard touchdown in the final minute to move the score to 64-22.

Thwaites was the star of the show for Greenville as he was 8/20 for 89 yards on the ground, and he carried the football twenty-two times for 218 yards and two scores.

Byron Center racked up 659 yards of offense, including 593 on the ground. Mason Breit led the way with 124 yards on just two carries, that both went for touchdowns. He also caught both passes completed in this game, for 66 additional yards and a third touchdown.

Next week, Byron Center will look to complete the undefeated regular season when they take on East Grand Rapids. Greenville will look to get their first victory when they face Grand Rapids Christian.
