The Mona Shores Sailors and Grand Haven Bucs met in a non-league game scheduled at the final moments of this week. After scoring a plethora of points early in this game, the Sailors were able to coast to a 36-15 victory.
In the opening minutes, Brady Rose got the Sailors’ offense rolling with a fourteen yard touchdown run. Keegan DeKuiper booted the extra point to make it 7-0. He would also add a thirty-six yard field goal to make it 10-0 as the first quarter concluded.
Just forty seconds into the second quarter, Rose once again maneuvered his way across the goal line. This time, he plunged in from a yard out to make it 17-0. Owen Worthington and the Bucs were able to score a touchdown to pull within ten, but Elijah Johnson‘s run of fifteen yards gave the Sailors a 23-6 halftime lead.
Elijah Johnson’s three-run touchdown in the opening seconds of the second half pushed the lead to twenty-three. Grand Haven was able to respond with a touchdown pass from Owen Worthington to Gideon Jones-Rikkers, a thirty-four yard strike.
In the fourth quarter, Johnson’s third touchdown was the lone score. He finished this game with sixteen carries for 126 yards and the three touchdowns to pace the offense.
For this performance, he earns tonight’s Redi Rental Sailor of the Game honor.
Mona Shores (4-0), now will host Grand Rapids Union next week in an OK-Green battle. Grand Haven will return to OK Red action on the road against Jenison. The Grand Haven and Jenison game will be broadcast LIVE on MSR.
